Useful review Sir. Huge fan of the original Tribit neutral-ish sound, so slightly disappointed with its new bloated tuning. Can only hope they come close with the classic EQ after you're recommendation. Weldone Tribit for listening.

thanks for the detailed review, speaker is clearly lacking bass, but i guess for many people out there who are just looking for a cheap speaker on low volumes for the kitchen or another small space it doesn't matter that much.
I can understand that Tribit was trying to breathe new life into one of their best sellers but it sounds like they pushed the drivers beyond their capability with that giant V. I have the original MaxSound Plus and I think it's still great for that neutralish tuning that it does. I think it would have been better to try to refine that if possible and leave it as the default tuning with the same option of adjustability in the app. At least they listened to constructive criticism and are actively taking steps to trying to improve their product (an increasingly rare trait among companies). Good on Tribit for adding a classic preset. Seems to me all it needs is: Classic, A little more bass, More bass and a little more treble, and finally MOAR. BASS. AND MOAR TSS TSS TSS!!!! 😅
They should've adapted that racetrack + tweeter setup. It is far better than using Neodymium Full Range. So glad I still have my Maxsound Plus and it is still a Flip Killer😂
@@ThibautMahringer alright but for me, having Two full range drivers that plays down to 65hz would only cause severe compromisation of upper mids and treble as strong woofer movements would create intermodulation. Separating treble from the rest is way better and separating bass, mids, treble just like JBL Boombox 3 produces a much more cleaner sound than two way. That's why speaker brands such as JBL ditched the two way system from their Boombox series as they need to have their speakers produce deeper bass but without compromising the mids.
@@legendaryblood1937 From experience, owning both Charge 5 and Maxsound Plus, having treble actually playing in stereo sounds better than having one tweeter dedicated to treble. Though I'd agree that having two tweeters and two woofers is a better setup than having only two full range alone ! I have nothing wrong to say about three way designs, as I enjoy my Go+Play 3. I don't like the tuning of Boombox 3 though, it sounds too bright and agressive in the mids to my ears.
@@legendaryblood1937 i agree with the two full range drivers preference generally being way easier to implement in these small speakers. most of the issues tend to come from poor quality drivers and electronics. remember intermodulation distortion is any non linear harmonic and can be from anywhere along the signal path. hearing intermodulation does not mean its due to the drivers all the time. you also lose the need for the crossover. whatever the design there are trade-offs. having a three way and multiple crossovers albeit active is arguably not great for the sweet spot. remember these are not bookshelves with good left and right separation, ultimately its a small enclosure (relatively) with 6 drivers.
If you have the MaxSound Plus, which I love and use on the regular, is the XSound Plus 2 worth getting? Also, Its strange that Tribit decided to mess with what made this speaker great, which is the sound, but yet keep the same old boring design
i dont know how they work internally, its like they have no clue what made the maxsound sell. anyways hold on till we get the maxsound preset. now they are telling me they wont call it classic to avoid confusion 👍

Why doesn't a speaker manufacturer just hire you to develop a BT speaker with neutral, accurate sound? That's what I'm looking for. I want a small ipx-7 speaker with neutral sound and tight, accurate bass. I want to hear the track reproduced as intended by the artist. Where's my AR2000 speaker?

@@chrisjohnston964 the 300 is decent enough until you push volume with bass on then it distorts and overall is on the bright side but for its size its ok.

Let's see what improvement(s) the presets will do & again thank you for pointing out the button issues even though its not much of a problem, a led light on each button or different colour combination to make the buttons stand out is just ideal More power to you! Man, all they had to do was give it a little more bass than the Maxsound +. Thank god for custom EQ I guess. I AM impressed they actually listened and will throw a classic tuning out there. Also if you for some reason found yourself in a situation where you had only this small speaker and needed all the volume you could get the Xsound+ 2 seems to be the best pick out of all of them...

from tribit... As for the sound quality of XSound Plus 2: Kindly be advised that we released a newer firmware. The new firmware provides an EQ that continues the tuning style of MaxSound Plus, and this EQ can be switched through the Tribit app. The name of this EQ is MaxSound Traditional. Hope it will improve the sound quality.
In India, it is over priced (around 100 USD here) and the discount is just 29% instead of 41 and at the same time, Stormbox Flow has 50% discount here! We get flow in the same price of this! So my question is, which one should I buy?
there was so much room for improvement of this speaker, and they only did what I can do myself, using Samsung EQ over Dolby Atmos... they are not doing great with headphones either, even earfun creates more interesting products.
Got on that early bird special list but now I might just get the og maxsound unless they fix the eq curve before the code expires. I bought the go for my wife and for a small speaker I really dig it but I almost wish I would have just got the maxsound for a little more bass.

I bought the max sound Plus literally 2 days ago and this came out lol. What do you suggest, do i return Max sound Plus and buy this instead, is it a worthwhile upgrade or should I stick to the max sound Plus. My preference is sound and longevity over everything else.
With both the tuning and latency being crap again, which speaker would you advise in this general size range, being used for 60% conference calls (separate mic), and 30% music and 10% movies on holidays? I prefer a natural detailed / neutral sound. Can't seem to find a decent (preferably somewhat affordable +-€100 max) option...

You didn't like the Motion 300 with default EQ, but Oluv did like it with custom EQ. Do you believe that could be an option? Also, with the current discount of 41%, do you have any hope for the Xsound Plus with the 'Classic' EQ?
The Speaker sounds bad on my tv. Your Sound example show me exactly what i see on the frequency table. The mids muffle and the highs to much.... thanks again for beware us for fail buy. Any ways to much black version on market 😂...
After your review i purchased the xsound plus 2, its sounds good, but below 50% of volume the speaker doesn't produce sounds at all. Very very very tiny sound. Is this only in my device or its there in all the speakers?
A lot of BT range tests are meaningless as the range is very much enviroment dependent a 150ft line of sight outdoors can turn into 25ft indoors dependent on many factors.
thanks for jumping on one of the few things i havent tested. your support is invaluable! there's always one! personally i find the most important aspect of a bluetooth speaker is the sound but if you wish to play your tiny speaker 150 feet away go fill yer boots!
How does the compare to the tribit micro 2? I was thinking a v3 might be imminent but clearly as shown here, newer isn't always better. I just want micro firm factor with a bit more distortion free higher volume.
Hi Alan. Why does sound quality nornally max out at around 75% on smaller bluetooth speakers. I like the shape of the Maxsound Plus but do you think its now looking dated especially with no colour options ? Really enjoy your vids and glad Tribit take note. Take care.
Hearing that the upgraded "V2" MSP can't stereo pair with the "V1" MSP anymore bummed me out. The whole thing with the naming of the speakers was interesting information.

@@AnantSachdeva92 I even bought Tribit XSound Mega, but sold again in a few days. Bass is better than Motion+ but highs is really bad. But, it can be personal preferences. If sound quality is your priority, Motion+ would suit you. From 2018, i bought all tribit speakers, but there are only 4 speakers which i like, XSound Go(Upgraded), MaxSound Plus, Micro 2 and Stormbox Blast. I didn't mean the others are that bad but i don't want them🤣

Hi Maxsound Plus Fans, (who purchased Xsound Plus 2 and whoever wishing to buy the same) Please update your Tribit Software and Speaker Firmware accurately. Then you will get a preset which is named " MaxSound traditional" With this eq.preset, you will get a neutral sound which is almost identical to the "MaxSound+ Sound"!

@@alanrossreviews Tribit doesn't have a specific target / reference response for each speaker release (now that I think about it, none of these Bluetooth speaker brands have a specific, recognized sound signature, outside of Bose maybe, with their systematic upper bass centric / V-shaped response). But here they have a target, the Maxsound Plus, we know how it sounds, they know how it sounds, they just need to replicate it. Hopefully this will make the job easier for the people who tune the DSP. Especially since Maxsound Plus is not being produced anymore...
im not sure why you would raise eyebrows at not comparing a £38 speaker a £150 speaker. This is the problem with doing your best to get as much info out as possible, there is always someone nit picking. thank go for the sensible ones.

Alan was referring to the XSound Plus 2. He just didn’t add the 2. Its kind of dumb that Tribit added a “2” to begin with when you consider that the previous iteration was called MaxSound Plus

Well I think Alan gave his seal of approval. Just make sure to update the firmware and then use the traditional eq preset. I also think Alan said if necessary you can tweak the sound within said preset so you can get the sound completely to your liking
