Likewise! Appreciate you sticking around lol My father passed away and then my career job needed a lot of attention at the same time due to a Spring->Summer rush. I'm officially back now, and have more (actual review videos) in the queue. This one was time-sensitive since the sale is temporary.
Glad to see you back! In the previous video, I told you that you could take any time you needed because you explained about your father. I'm reading here in the comments that he unfortunately went away, and I'm sincerely sorry you had to go through this. My sincere condolences. Like I said in your previous video, if you need anything, just know you can ask ; ) Even though I've already put a thumb up, I'm watching your new video now :D Sending you a lot of courage ! Cheers from France !
Hey Matt from France, I actually remember that comment - I thought about it handful of times while I was on break. It was a good reminder that there are humans on the other side of this, whenever I felt pressured to force out a video, when I wasn't ready yet, to not fall out of RU-vid's good graces. Appreciate your support and good will; hope you are doing well over there!
Great video! I was waiting for you to upload after the amazing Quest 3 review (probably the best in the entire internet) but didn't find anything. Glad to have you back.
Appreciate that!!! Thanks for sticking around. Life stalled me there for a bit, but I'm back in action. I have 2 new Quest 3 videos on the way (in-depth battery comparison + my 8-month Quest 3 review update) - aiming to have both out before September 20. I have 3 other videos in editing.. I've got a lot of catching up to do. =)
@@aline.tech.reviews Amazing! No issues waiting, if the videos have even half the quality of the Quest 3 review it will be already better than 99% of other channels, like this video is. I have bought the Quest 3 because of your video and I would love to hear your opinion after the software updates triggered by the Vision Pro release (impossible to buy here, it's a year salary). Greetings from Argentina!
dont know y u only got 9k subs. goddamn, the quality of your vids is awesome. keep on the good work. enjoying your channel. regards from germany. i am sorry to hear about your loss. i lost my dad when i was 5. may he rest in peace my friend. regards, myers
yeah quite a number of tech workers/ writers started this kind of desk setup during the Quest 2 quite alot of them use Immersed VR. I was one of them this lifestyle is def coming for everyone and prob if things work out we might not even need peripherals one day in the future lol
Most definitely! I couldn't get into a flow with the Quest 2/3; the resolution was just too low - reading text for long periods of time caused a lot of eye strain for me that compounded over the week. I still use it, but for max like 1-2 hours a day. 4k per eye seems to be the minimum sweet spot for regular and long work sessions for me. I've ordered the Immersed Visor, though! I'm going to their IRL event next month; I'll be sure to make a video of my initial thoughts.
I appreciate that! If, one day, I can make videos half as good as he makes music, I'll be set 😆. I've spent a lot of time upgrading all my camera gear, I need to dial in my movements and story-telling a bit.
I switched Quest for this. I could not get used to how heavy it used to is. Mine has been in a bin almost since day one. I pull it out every one in a while to see if immersed has gotten any better. It has been a while. I need to try again. Also I have never tried any of the new headbands. I need to pull it out. The AVP is superior in many ways, but it is heavy. Also the eye tracking or any kind of tracking sucks so bad compared to the hand controllers. If somebody could get hand controllers like the Quest the AVP would actually be useful.
My first thought when you mentioned how heavy it was to ask if you have tried a "halo style" headstrap for the Quest, then reading further it sounds like you haven't. I'd suggest picking up a BoboVR S3 or equivalent.. it not only evenly distributes the load over your head, but also has a battery on the back that acts as a nice counter-balance. In this setup, I'm way more comfortable than the Apple Vision Pro. AVP is definitely heavy, but I've also managed to get it evened out some with the 3D-printed clips that allow you to attach another soloknit band on the top of your head. You have to buy another $99 headband, which sucks, but this setup is much more comfortable and if one of the strap gets a bit too uncomfortable through the day, you can loosen it and tighten the other one to get back to a comfortable state and just alternate as needed. Highly recommend it. I agree it would be nice if controllers worked just to be an optional input. I know folks have the Index Knuckles working in ALVR for gaming. That said, I've been a big fan of the hand and eye tracking over controllers - I think I'd argue that I'd rather they spent more time dialing in the hand tracking to match the precision and latency of the Quest 3.
Tell desk companies to make their desks wider I thought about getting a standing desk for many years and I'm on Vernal's website and 27.5 is not enough I've been to other desk sites and some of them are much better but I'm telling you the first standing desk company to come out with one that's 35 - 40 inches are going to make a lot of money from people like me. I have an old-school I don't even know what you call it. From maybe the 40s and it's beautiful it's wide it's long it's heavy and it's hard to move but it's awesome to work at however you can't stand up... anyway that's my two cents you did at least get my money .. They look like nice desk though just too skinny... lol
Yea, I assume the reason is that it's a bit more of a niche audience (e.g, there's not as many of you that want larger). 27.5 is a good standard size because most can't reach past that when at the desk itself (meaning they'd have to lean way over or walk around). I'm tall at 6'3" and find the 22-inch desks too short because I can still reach all the way across when sitting, but 27.5 is the perfect distance. I will definitely send them this feedback though to see what they say!
I've recently been thinking of purchasing a vision pro as well, and I wanted to ask if it would be feasible for me to wear the vision pro all the time instead of the screen if I'm in a situation where I'm using the computer for a long period of time? Will it damage my eyes. Also, very great video!
I appreciate that! Thanks for taking the time to watch. I've been able to use the Apple Vision Pro for extended periods without issue! This is contrary to the Quest 3, for example, where the lower resolution and aliasing of text strains my eyes a lot to read (and where it gets quite hot inside the headet around the eyes - the AVP has much better ventillation, is much cooler, and therefore more comfortable). The Quest 3 is perfectly viable for consuming content and playing games because your eyes aren't trying to focus them in the same way as text and other elements for producitivity/work. AFAIK, there is no concrete evidence that using a headset for extended periods will cause any extra damage to your eyes over a traditional screen. I'm not a doctor; I've searched quite a bit as I had the same concern with my first headset years ago, check out "The Dr. Eye Guy" on YT - he recently made a video. Myopia is increasing in general due to the population's screen use and focal distance, but I believe the general sentiment is that VR should reduce this to some extent, vs. traditional 2d screens, as there is an increased engagement of the eyes.. meaning it should be slightly better for your eyes long-term. I think we need more studies to be certain. Lol, also the way the Apple Vision Pro's eye tracking works gives you a nice eyeball workout. Typically when staring at screens it seems your eyes move very little, but in the AVP you constantly are moving your eyeballs around all over to target windows and interactive components.. so you get like an all- day workout and stretch of your eyes over a traditional screen. Edit: I'll also add, getting a used Vision Pro is a great way to save nearly $1,000. Many people purchased it, used it a few times, and it's collecting dust now.
Same!!! I'm going to the IRL event in Austin, TX next month to demo it for the first time - so I'll be sure to make a quick video of my thoughts right after the event.
😆. For ease, check out "Dr. Eye Guy" here on RU-vid; he makes some good videos on the topic. Everything I've read suggests there's no additional damage to your eyes over traditional screens; they may even cause us to become less myopic, over traditional monitors, because your eyes are more 'active'. Of course, I'm not a doctor and it feels like we need a lot more studies.
