Would you still love it when it fully modernizes and starts looking the same and as generic as Dubai? Morocco wants to modernize everything but the people and foreigners just want restoration of its classical identity.

@@harrybarry5224 I love Morocco as a whole I would like it no matter what. It’s not just the country it’s the people. It will never be like Dubai. I think a little modernisation will be good but not too much. My partner is Moroccan so I have been travelling to and from Morocco many years. I don’t agree with people losing jobs and homes just so people can modernise things but in certain cases then upgrading is good yes

I have a problem with another illegal thing in this country: carriages 🫏🐎 Especially here in Deroua, the caïd (mayor but corrupt and unknown) of the town isn't doing anything about them, and there isn't a police station where I can make a report!

Carriages have existed for generations before you were born...That's not how a complex problem should be resolved. People use carriages because thay have no better alternative. not everyone is taking possession over things that do not belong to them , and the authorities has not folded their eyes while giving authorizations for residents to construct houses and institute surf shops !! and , do you seriously think Imsouane will change for better ? look at Taghazout , did it change for better , not at all .. massive luxury hotels for big rich dumb ass people ,all this investors want is gaining more money , the poor get poorer and vise versa ..rather than this capitalist way of thinkig , why not making Imsouane better by rebuilding surf shops for locals ,fix the impoverished infrastructure and keeping the beautiful charm of this beautiful village ??!! frankly , i really have sympathy for you being so ignorant about the sad reality and spelling none sense .

Agree! Often the buildings are built too close to the beach, not safe and not environment friendly - not connected to official infra and that is leading to using improvised sewage systems, etc. Looks sad but in the end things should be done right- good for local people, tourists and environment!

Thats bullshit. How can people native to the Land build something illegally? Despite that they have high historical and architectural value not only for the natives but for the whole region. You can never rebuild this again.

I think you didn't heard about the mass cleaning happening right now in Morocco, a lot of ultra powerful politicians/elese are in jail or waiting for it... things were coming to fast for Moroccans to understand what happening lol

@@clasheurindependent9547Sure respecting nature is good, but who is gonna build the village again ? it sure won't be the local berber people that lived there and made that place attractive in the first place, the reason people go there is for the charm of the local population and authenticity of the colorful buildings that were built by the local population for themselves and not just as tourist bait, destorying the authentic buildings and bringing in some big company to build soulless "small surf village" without the authenticity of the people who made that place great in the first place is just bad, I wanted to go to imsouane because of how my friends described it to me as an authentic calm local village with hospitable people and great surf culture, now I'm sure it is just gonna turn into a copy of every other surf place in the world, why would anyone travel all the way over there just to get what they can get anywhere else ? I'm sure some people will but it will be just another forgettable experience and not as memorable as it once was. If on the other hand, the "small surf villages built in a beautiful, ecological" they want to build is gonna be given to the locals living there with them running the stuff the way it was before then I might stay optimistic and actually it can be better, but if its just going to turn into buildings run by companies where we need to checking into a hotel and paying for overpriced food with artificial swimming pools with only profit in mind then I pass

lobster for 50 cents ? does times are long gone, in new Morocco by law every farmer or fishing boat can directly sell to many much richer countries with no taxes, so every body sells to the international, litteraly everything, some times Moroccan fish and fruits are cheaper in Europe than 10km from the farm that produced them or the port where the fish first landed. globalisation is a blessing they said

@@Yanzdorloph I did say, it was 30 years ago. I used to go with 2 of my friends around 6 am and help them get the boats out, in return, they handed us a lot of sardines and some other fish and this one time a lobster for 50 cents. Those were the good old days

The problem is that it will not earn these tourist dollars for Morocco as much as you would like to hope it will. It will earn it for a few select investors who will keep that money mostly for themselves. The imesouane being destroyed was the one that earned tourist money for the actual common man. Yes it was less money than what these resorts will make (in theory), but it allowed these people to have an honest and decent living. Now these same ppl will have to work for slave wages at this new resort.

We need a solid tourism system that will not only accommodate the locals but also, taxwise, will contribute to the country's vital sectors, such as education and healthcare. Taghazout resort for instance will draw in millions, world class hotels for tourism and conferences, etc. We need to have a good outlook on the future, not remain nearsighted.
