The rear wheel spins even when it's in neutral due to hydraulic drag between the clutch plate and engine. The wheel spin reduces as the engine oil heats up.
Not alot of those here in the Philippines. I drive a 150cc and act like i drive a big bike😂😂 Would love to see one of those coz R1M is just badass!!! Keep the videos coming...
First off, I'm so jealous of all the bikes you get to own and ride! The 2018 R1M is a stunning bike, but I reckon the 2015 R1M still looks better in my opinion. Yamaha nailed the colour scheme on the 2015 R1M and the grey breaks up all the carbon nicely. Great video as always!
Insanely dope! Both are strictly for motorcycle enthusiasts who can appreciate what a serious riding experience is supposed to feel like! I could definitely make this bike my show piece at every event!
DUDE Zack is awesome ! I am building my r1m out with you guys (just missing a couple carbon parts like the tank covers) and i messed up and cross threaded the left side engine mount on my brand new r1m . Its in tight and good but i feel so much better after Zack told me how to handle that problem (a new head for the motor is $1700) . I am hoping to take a trip up here from texas and get my bike on the dyno with X1 some day and let you guys check out the bike.
The wheel is spinning in neutral because the clutch is engaged and the oil inside the gearbox is "dragging" the gears, making the wheel rotate. You should worry when it doesn't do it, as most likely you'll have no oil lol

I had now used 2012 rsv4 rf, never think of getting this beauty and cant afford to own an used unit of R1M, its truely a sexy looking bike. My dream bike ever.
Nice bikes I like the 2018 with more exposed carbon, black engine cases, "Yamaha" on either side of windscreen and continuous stripe over front cowling to rear of tank. Looks perfect to me. 2016 is beautiful also with more silver.
Thanks man! We have a carbon fiber tank extender but the weave pattern is different from OEM. We decided not to install it on this bike, I will use it on my 2015 R1M track bike ❤️✔️💪
The Akro is SO quiet! I know "if it isn't Akro, it's trash" mantra among people who own them, but i'm a bit surprised by this one. I gotta say, it sounds about as quiet as a Yoshimura full system. No question the performance is top notch though, i don't doubt that. Nice bikes!
the rear wheel moves due to hydraulic drag from the oil. When your rpm goes up, you should see the rear tire start to rotate even in neutral because the oil is pulling the transmission. But if its spinning that much like how it is on your video, your oil level may be too high, which creates a greater transfer of energy to the tire. This is not something you want because oil is only suppose to act as lube, and not create more resistant to the transmission

got a 2019 R1M. I LOVE the color scheme on it! the carbon with the polished silver and the lbue... beautiful! Haven't done as much to my bike as these ones but its a good bike and the Ohlins suspension are great@ Had to get a softer seat for longer rides, and an Akrapovic muffler.... sounds great@ Add some fun highways and few canyon roads in Utah... FUn bike to own!
NOTHING sounds like an eng with a crossplane configuration....even the way it feels when u r cranking the throttle is diff. I wish Honda would make one for the CBR

The gearbox input shaft gears are spinning the output shaft gears. The gears are just freewheeling on the output shaft but still have some drag on it. It will be just enough to cause it to spin. I don't fully remember how a motorcycle gearbox works so I might be wrong.

It’s the drag from the free spinning gears rotating independently over the drive shaft in the gear box when in neutral. Happens when the oil is cold and more viscous and there fore creates more drag on the drive shaft to rotate it. Usually disappears when the oil warms and becomes thinner.

Hey 650ib! Huge fan man. I just purchased a brand new 2018 R1M that I would like to use primarily as a track bike. What protection options would you recommend I ad? Please be specific with what brand (I.e. frame sliders, I saw rizoma has engine cover protection but not sure how those work as I’ve never had anything like that, bar ends, etc?) thanks man.
I personally prefer the look of the exposed exhaust on my R1M. Good addition with the belly pan but I don't think yours needs it. I feel like it makes the R1 look bigger than what it actually is. Just my opinion.

2018, and only because the exhaust sounds better to me. Can't stand the headlight placement also.I live in NJ and bro I was on my K5 GSXR, hit a huge pothole on the highway and bent the front rim. Still pisses me off till this day!
Hey Ib, awesome bikes! I just wanna know, if you have a bike that’s track use only. Do you winterize it in between track days? Or do you do something else coz obviously you can’t be riding it on the streets. I’m just curious. If anyone else wanna enlighten me please do. I would appreciate it. Thanks
Hey, I don't winterize or do anything to my 2015 R1M for the winter months. I keep it inside my heated basement and start it up a few times over the winter months.
Both bikes are beautiful but I'd go with the 2018 and i have always been a R1 fan and have a 04 R1 but I'd love to win the R1m there a beautiful bike and love everything that you had done to it
