Managing difficult blood pressure
Patients with difficult-to-control hypertension have increased cardiovascular risks including mortality. And not uncommonly our primary care physicians have to deal with such challenging cases. This talk will take you through the basics of hypertension and blood pressure targets, delve a bit into secondary hypertension, and focus mainly on approach to managing resistant hypertension along with some case-based scenarios.

I am a Consultant Renal Physician with Counties Manukau Health, Auckland. My basic training is from Mumbai, India. I have completed advanced training from University of Ottawa, Canada. I have fellowships in Hypertension and Renal Transplantation. I am certified by the American Society of Hypertension as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension. Also, I am pursuing Masters in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston.
At Middlemore Hospital, I am the Clinical Lead for Renal Transplantation, Hypertension and dialysis software program, Clinical Vision implementation. I started the Hypertension Clinic at Counties Manukau Health in 2014, and have been upskilling one of the nurses interested in Hypertension. With MPH, I am planning to conduct clinical research in this field.
