I completely agree with the other comments. You took away what really made the coffee table special by removing the casters. I actually prefer a taller coffee table. I don't want to reach down for my drink if I'm relaxing.
I totally agree. The casters should have remained, the furniture is taller now a days. Coffee tables need to be taller as well. Maybe you could add them back on. They were so cute and special!
You said couch. I have not heard that vintage expression in some time. Years ago, it was a davenport. Now it's a sofa. Victorians said settee. Great video!
Oh that's funny! Where are you from? I thought couch was pretty common here in the southern US but maybe it's more local to my area of NC than I realize. Thanks for watching!
Hanging a gallery wall up your stair way is so outdated. If you have a landing at the top of the stairs as you come up it is visible to the eye, and looks great and hang them in rolls if you’re going to do gallery wall on stairways, looks so much more high end just a tip!
Im not sure about the coffee table to be honest. I dont think it looked expensive and i think itll chip within 12 months. I think furniture is worth investing in and keeping for years. Like the photo wall though!
Please do more high-end dupes on a low budget. This video is very inspirational. I picked up several things I didn't know - about the proportion of the coffee table to the sofa, for example. I've subscribed and look forward to more videos!
I agree on put back the casters. It turned out so good BUT I 'd propably paint it black because of the light colored furniture. It would give some dimension in the space and pare well with the rug.
I love the table so much but PLEASE put the casters back on!they are so amazing! Not everyone needs to have a room with furniture in these recommended dimensions. Many French homes don’t!
I like the table with the castors, however, for someone with small children it could be a hazard to have it moving about. It looks great with or without. Go with what makes your heart smile.
Yes thank you for making that point, I had thought about that too but not stated it in the video. But after hearing that others liked them as much as I initially did maybe I'll put them back in and try the higher height out for a while to see how it works. 🥰
I did this this past summer!! I found a good, sturdy, heavy ! coffee table for $3.50!! Brought it home and stripped off 4 layers of paint off the surface, finding a beautiful wood grain! (not sure why someone painted it in the first place, but I get it, you get tired of the way things look sometimes) I repainted the base and legs an off white to go with the rest of my furniture... we LOVE it!! I LOVE a good find!!! I love how your table turned out! :O)
I love your gallery wall. I know someone said it's outdated, but who cares. I can't stand a house that has no personality. I love a home that within a few minutes of entering, I know the interests of the homeowner. Some things are classics and never go out of style.
Love the oval coffee table, what a great find, and a fantastic refinish job! I was hoping you'd take the wheels off - they were awkward-looking, and probably why it didn't sell for so long - easy fix!
Thank you! I liked the idea of casters but besides the height of the table they also just didn't show up at all on my dark patterned rug so there was really no point. They just sunk into the floor haha. And funny enough I ended up redoing that table again in a more recent video 😅
Choosing a handful out of PB’s thousands of pieces for inspiration and trying to work something similar into my own decor is not copying PB’s style any more than more than buying any decor items from literally any store and incorporating them into your decor. Unless you’re making all your decor from scratch yourself, you’re always utilizing someone else’s designs. Just using it for inspiration and ideas because I'm not personally a designer :)
First time landing on your channel, you have a beautiful home. PB is not worth the price tags anymore. In the late 90’s/early 2000’s, yes. You could not find comparable style and quality, unless it was WS, CB, or RH. 10 years ago, thinking the quality was still the same, I bought a duvet set and sheets. The sheets lasted maybe 2 years? They were torn up at the foot of the bed and… I’m going off on a tangent, but I’ve stayed away from PB since then. So glad for channels like yours which feature decent dupes 💕 Happy New Year
Thanks for bringing this up, that's interesting. I'm someone who has only bought directly from Pottery Barn a handful of times, but I have quite a few Pottery Barn pieces in our home that I've picked up from thrift stores. I'm sure some of the things I've bought second hand are actually from their earlier years! Thanks so much for watching, glad to have you. 😊
Why paint the wood table? Now the painted version just looks cheap to me. Just one opinion. And losing the casters. No. Wish we had second hand stores with such nice stuff. Where are you located? Like the idea of this vlog.
We just purged our oops paint yesterday. Disposal isn’t easy, but we had accrued so much! I’m horrible at DIYs…but, it is fun watching others!! Great job!
Absolutely a Great Video... Loved the Castors... I Have an old tool trunk that came with castors on it and I made the mistake of taking them off and I thought I had stored them in the trunk that I use for a coffee table But No, They are No where to be found to re-add back on to the trunk.
Thank you. Bummer about the casters you can't find :( I am definitely keeping these and actually probably will put them back on the table and try it out that way, due to popular demand :)- Thanks so much for watching.
I love the coffee table. Didn’t realize how nice the oval shape looked. I’m not a fan of castors on furniture so I liked it better without. I’m all about charm but I just don’t see it in castors.
