One reason the show did so well I think is the great/brotherly chemistry those two guys had right off the bat.

When they eat, they have a bucket next to them so when the camera goes to someone else to spit it out. Jensen lowers his voice for his role as Dean. They are really funny guys. Guest stars even say it is the most fun set & everyone is so nice. The guys also pull many pranks on each other & other stars.

The prank where they had 2 buckets of water poured over them was set up by Kim Manners who directed a lot of the early seasons.

I noticed the voice difference when I first watch the gag reel. I'm pretty sure Jensen puts on a deeper voice. Sometimes throughout you can tell he's doing it too deep and his voice would crack a little.

After you watch all the bloopers you'll wonder how they got 15 seasons done😂😂

No they didn't know each other before the audition. But they instantly got along, they're both from Texas and liked the same things. Jared is 4 and a half years younger than Jensen - exactly the same age difference as with Sam and Dean. They quickly became best friends and decided to never prank each other on set - instead they pranked other actors together 😆 They also early on decided to never fight or argue with each other. You're right, they're different from their characters. Jared is very hyper, always laughing and joking, always loud and having fun on set, and very nice to everyone. Jensen is more reserved and serious and sometimes grumpy, but he loves having fun on set too. But like Sam, Jared is an intellectual and likes reading, he was A+ student at school. Jensen is a very creative person, he's a great singer (who has his own band) and in later seasons he started directing too.

These guys are still very close after the show ended. They still do conventions. Actually the whole cast is very close
