In this video I want to show you how you can create an Instance Group, set up some health check(s) to enable auto healing and auto scaling.
To test the functionality I will:
1. Create an Instance Template with some basic http webpage
2. Create an (managed) Instance Group with default 2 nodes, maximum 4 nodes
3. Set up the front-end interface with HTTP Load Balancer
4. Test tge autohealing by killing http server on one of the instances, and see what happens
5. Put extra load on CPU on my webservers to see if the instance group will autoscale.
Enjoy the video, and if you have any questions or comments please feel free to post them in the comment section.

Very useful with practical examples. So clear now. Thank you. Just a question. When we increased the CPU load on the servers, the number of instances scaled up from 2 to 4. After sometime, you stopped the load on the servers. Will the number of instances scale down from 4 to 2? We didn't see it and that's why I am asking this question. Thanks again.

But when you create instance group through cloud console/gshell, what is default for autoscaling?

Can we create instance group with existing vms

Hi, yes - that's possible. Easiest way is to create unmanaged instance group. You can read about it more here: cloud.google.com/compute/docs/instance-groups If you want to have a managed instance group (with functionality autoscale/autoheal etc..) I'm affraid you would first have to 'create a template' that meets the requirements you've got. More about templates: cloud.google.com/compute/docs/instance-templates

Hi! Excelente work here! Can i ask u for a script to install a Wordpress on that template? I need to test a wordpress load balacing to a school work

Thank Jorge. That might be a bit tricky, since Wordpress uses both 'filesystem' backend storage (for html files, templates, config files etc..) and database (for example mysql). That being said, if you want to test load balancing for wordpress you would probably need to consider how to 'sync' data across your wordpress instances. What might be a bit easier is to try run it on Kubernetes environment, stick to single physical worker node and scale the deployment I've released a video of how to deploy wordpress in Kubernetes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QbKOi-qvhNU.html For scaling stateful application on K8s you can also check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gl3y8b37Dtg.html Hope that helps.
