People think they're being loyal to other brands by saying a Pixel is garbage. Usually people that say a phone is garbage, haven't even tried it. Imagine thinking a Pixel phone is garbage. 😂
Had a pixel 7 Pro. Sold it after a few months. Very slow charging. Bad battery life and video is subpar. Bought an iPhone 13 pro max and it's leagues better.
Ive had both. On android 14 the 6a runs hotter. 7a is pretty cool. Like you say the screen is biggest difference. I had 120hz before with samsung a52s and i got fed up of 60hz so decided to upgrade. 90hz is fine. 120 slightly smoother but not by much. Also the 6a camera was fine for viewing on phone but didnt look good blown up to 50 inches on TV. Inside in artificial light the 6a was too noisy. 7a camera is a nice improvement. Battery of 6a was better because im in 60hz. 7a has higher screen drain but its probably only about 30 minutes less screen on time a day and well worth it for smoothness. Ive not managed to flatten 7a in a day yet. Reception is better on the 7a. Higher data speeds in weak signal area. Most bugs fixed by android 14.
I think the 7a was designed for Google's annual fall sale. (The company traditionally drops prices on current inventory prior to release of the new flagship)That's when the 7a will really become attractive 🙂
I'll.never understand why ppl complain about 18W to 25W charging speeds. For me its amazing because that guarantee the longevity of my battery. Since charging it at some nonsense 120W will just kill his life
The example pictures on the 6a actually looked better than the 7a. I have the 7a right now and liking it, but having the power button above the volume buttons are killing me. I am so used to the typical android phones where it's the other way.
I think the price conversation needs to 6a vs 7a. When the 6a launched in was 449...which people seem to forget. So at 499 USD you're getting 90hz, the G2, 2 additional GB ram, upgraded camera sensor, wireless charging (such as it is) and face unlock. Honestly there's far more negligible upgrades in the flagship segment with a much higher price bump. The 7a will have some significant price drops as we get to the holiday season for people who are not early adopters I am sure.
@@3lectronic0 Ah yes, that same screen effect on just as many Pixel 6 series phones, along with that fractionally worse battery once the phone settles and the 1mm top and bottom difference, and around 4mm sides size difference. However will I get by with only a slightly better cpu, better gpu, better overall and brighter screen, better back camera, better selfie camera, more RAM, wireless charging, slightly better design, an extra year of total support, and an extra Android version.
pixel 7a is definitely way better than cheapo xiameme. miui is a sham, they just bump the version number up on their cheapo phone, but the android version may never be upgraded.
I don't believe animation of Pixel on 60hz today is choppy. My Pixel 4 is set to 60hz, and the animation to my office mate's iPhone 11 is way better. They've improved alot from animation to overall UI and performance and even video. Not the best than iPhone but better than other brands that offer too expensive price.
"So I feel like the biggest improvement you're going to see from 6a to 7a are in photography, not video." 7:40 - Holy crap, did you look at the difference in stabilization? The 7a is shaky as crap compared to the 6a. What a huge downgrade.
Came from the iphone 11 to the 6a and the 6a definitely functions far slower than the 11. But for $199, the 6a is not a bad phone. I'd have issues if i spent over $400 though.
I also came from the IP11 to pixel 6a and it's working much better than ip11 on the latest iOS update. Camera is much better, battery life is nearly the same and everything in general is working smoother than on ip11.
I like Google's approach to Android in terms of design generally (with the exception of the pill design in the notification shade which is just a huge waste of space). But to be honest, I find Samsung's OneUI to be vastly superior in terms of functionality.. I'm kind of spoiled by it. I dont think i can go back. Google's Android is great but I feel like Google isn't really exploring Android's overall potential as much as Samsung in the hopes of mirroring Apple's simplistic approach.. I don't mind that, but it should always retain its functional depth.. Despite it's UI being visually superior (which is honestly subjective), I'm sticking with Samsung's S series for now..
I actually use the wireless charging in my 6 pro specifically because it charges slowly. Since the battery life isn't the greatest, I don't want to degrade the battery faster by using fast charging. I'm considering using a custom ROM to keep the phone from charging beyond 80% and turning the phone off at 10%. The only thing I don't like about my 6 pro is the size. I have to use a pop socket to use it one handed. I had to get a magnetic pop socket so I can still use wireless charging. This is my first phone since 2015 and it is substantially larger than my Motorola Z Force was.
I don't know why anyone is saying the pixel 6a is choppy. I have not had that problem. The display looks super nice. 1080x2400 is a pretty nice resolution on a 6.1" display. It has plenty of power to push games and apps. In fact it is faster than the 7a in 3DMARK. It's a flagship SOC And Ram. The decision to go with dual core performance cores instead of a single performance core in most flagship SOCs makes a big difference in my opinion. The 6a is fast.and the 12mp cameras look as good as any phone on the market...I think there was a blind test done with 20 million votes cast and the pixel 6a won. It was posted by marques on his channel. I just think google has the right idea here. My 6a is running android 14 and gets very frequent updates and features added. I'm happy with it so far.
Currently reading this comment on my pixel 6a ❤🎉😂 personally people shit on pixel 6a Because of the little things. It's an unpopular opinion that the phone does improve over time by the little updates and the usage.
I just purchased the 6a as a backup phone since my Z Fold 4 was having issues and sent it for repairs. Now I'm leaning more to the 6a as primary. Just gonna sell the Z Fold 4.
Currently the $200 price gap is not worth it. And for $50, its not really anything game changing. 90hz vs 60hz has the tradeoff of battery life vs smoothness. I think a 60hz with smooth animations is going to be good enough and the battery gain is more important to most people since the pixels have average-ish battery life. Had google given us a 60hz display with a 5000mah battery with the same $450 price tag, well, that would've been excellent. Heck, even the camera could've remained the same. It already beats most $500 phones in photos and videos even. Had this been a $400 phone with less improvements, it'd have been killer. Afterall, its suppose to be a budget phone. $500 is stretching it. Even after a $150 price drop, it'd be $350.
Google has 3 software and 5 security vs Samsung has 4 software and 5 security how is that longer. But I guess since all the pixels double as hand warmers that’s a plus😂
So is it the processor that overheats? And if so is it because of the in house chip? And if so is goggle going to do anything about it or just pass the obvious problem on to the consumer, loyal Pixel buyers? Remember the Xbox 360 RRD?
Fawk the 360. Remember the pixel 5a!. I had one of those. And like many (everyone else?) The damn thing died up un me after 15 months of use. Dead DEAD. "motherboard issue".
Thanks for your comparison. However, all phone reviews miss so much fine detail which is relevant to millions of smartphone buyers who have poorer than average eye sight. I have an S22 and just spent 4 days with a Pixel 6a,because I wanted better battery life and a better camera, which the 6a has. However, where it fails dismally for me, is the lack of refinement & polished / completed software. Font size is inadequate and always has been on all smartphones, except Samsung, who have refined the font sizing experience perfectly. Look - 6a has font size and zoom size - with font on largest and zoom size one below largest, the written app names below the apps are unacceptably messy and oversized, so instead of seeing 'whatsapp', you see 'whatsa'. Well that's damn poor for an modern smartphone. The Samsung doesn't have this problem. Also, in Outlook app on the 6a, the emails font size is very small, because it doesn't adjust like the same app fonts do on an S22. So I always have to put on reading glasses just to read an email on the 6a, but I don't on my S22. That's why I've decided not to keep the 6a and just live with a little poorer battery and not as excellent camera. Plus that date at the top left of the 6a home screen - Which clowns in Google design decided that date could not be switched off or moved?? 👍
Sharing connexion is ridiculous on this phone, wired or unwired it does not work good. I bought it to use 5g on my computer and I am VERY disapointed. Also doesnt work well for calls. I had to do a full reset of the phone for it to work again properly After only 3 Months. Theses are only a few problems over this phone. They invest in gadget stuffs when the basics does not work. It's like building a house backward.
I HAVE BOTH AND I THINK THE 6A IS BETTER ONLY BECAUSE THERES NOT MUCH OF AN UPDATE EXPECT THE REFRESH RATE, 8 RAM AND 256GB. PAST THAT THERES NO MAJOR UPDATES OVER THE 6A, 6A IS LIGHTER AND IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT UPGRADING GO STRAIGHT TO THE 8 OR 8 PRO
I got the 7a for 200 less than the 7 is, 150 less than it has ever been on sale, where I am through a contract. Care to explain why I would pay that much more? Especially as the data included was also twice what I would get with the 7 for the same price, and I want a smaller screen?
It's the Apple of Android. You pay for a level of refinement and quality (specially the camera) you won't have buying a 300€ Chinese phone, unless you aim at an old flagship sale). But yes, the specs aren't so good. I wouldn't buy one though, I prefer year old flagships
I agree with the below comment - Pixel is the true showcase what Android is or rather what Google thinks it should be. You pay for the refinement yes the specs aren't the SnapDragon 8 Gen 2 level, but Google has never been about throwing hardware at any problem, its always been about delivering the best through software. I have switched from an OnePlus 9 to a Pixel 7a - I might miss the fast charging but I truly love the Pixel 7a
lmao. better software? what are you on about? who would want a generic chinese bloated OS (except OneUI) over the stock android experience. Gimmicks in the generic chinese bloated OS got you?
6a is having that inferior modem resulting in poor network reception. It also has the old camera sensor resulting in notably poor low light performance. It also is 60 hz. It also doesn't have wireless charging. 7a is a no brainer deal over 6a. PS: 6a does have the lower weight and that's a big advantage though.
Wireless charging is slow. Refresh rates get turned down to save battery, especially if the battery life isn't all that. Great to begin with. I like where Google cut the corners here. Give me the shit that matters a good processor. A good camera. Decent battery life. Great build quality. Plenty of ram. Plenty of storage and best of all software updates before anybody in years of security patches oh yeah and that old display is beautiful with a perfect screen to body ratio and a flat display coming from the LG v60 but also has a flat display. I truly appreciate this design. I think it looks classy as hell
