Google Pixel 8a vs. Samsung Galaxy A55: Apples and oranges! 

These phones are for VERY different people this year.

Customers: oh no the bezels on the A55 are too much! Pixel 8a: hold my bezels!

Hey Steve, love your content. The main frustration in the states is the lack of carriers selling the A55 since Samsung did not bring it to the states directly. You can buy them from Amazon, but it shows Latin America warranty support. They apparently want us to buy the S23FE which is a good phone, but if you are an A series fan is kind of a bummer.

I had the 7a and still have a Samsung A54 as a side phone. I preferred the 7a overall.

Hey there! Just wanted to share some thoughts on these two phones for you to keep in mind: 1. Camera: - 8a > a55 (though a55 takes better photos at night) 2. Display: - 8a is a tad brighter, but a55 uses "Corning Gorilla Glass Victus plus" while the 8a only has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (which is from 2012, actually). The bezels on 8a are a bit too much. so u must slap a Screen Protector and a case on 8a 3. Performance: - Both are on par. even though 8a has Tensor 3, it is underclocked to prevent overheating and save battery. The a55 SoC is balanced in terms of heat, performance, and battery life. for 95%ppl,a55 is already enough! 4. Battery: - Definitely a55 > 8a (a55 uses Li-Ion technology while the 8a uses Li-Poly which degrades faster). 5. Long-term usage: - I think a55 > 8a because a55 is newer and has 5 years of updates, while 8a offers 7 years but will require battery replacements multiple times. (Most people will buy a new phone before 3-5 years anyway.) - 8a has a plastic back, which I actually think is great because glass is glass and glass breaks. Overall, I think a55 offers better value, but if both are priced the same, lean a little towards the 8a. - Recently, a55 received some AI features from S series through an update.

Benn using the 8a for a few days now and I love it. Absolutely love the size and the bezels don't bother me at all.

Me personally I’d go with the 8a because I prefer stock android and I really am not a fan of the heavy OneUI skin on Samsung devices. While I do like the a55 and think it should’ve been sold in the US, i am more satisfied with using a Pixel or Motorola on android because of how clean the setup is. I’m also in the group that prefers the smaller design with the plastic back especially in that sharp aloe color.

I have the A55 and a Pixel 7. Both have their own pros and cons and love both equally.

Why are they increasing the bezel size on their A devices?

I was _so_ tempted to upgrade from the 6a (which I love) to the 8a and was about to pre-order (great deal in the UK) but I tried one in store and, bezels aside, I found the corners looked like they were bulging out asymmetrically and it just looked weird. I imagine a case would emphasise that. So, I am (although i don't like glass backs) holding out for a price drop on the 8!

I might come off as a hater but the pixels aren’t compelling to me.Outside of some ai neat software tricks and camera process the physical overall hardware is lacking compared to other Oems.

Price now A55 in The Netherlands is 312€ ! That's cheap for a great device 👍

S23 fe is more on pair with Picel 8a

I like both Google phones and Samsung I have an s21 and pixel 8 I refuse however to purchase another Samsung until they stop with the boring designs No way should a 300 dollar phone have the same design language as their flagships

Pixel 8 & 8a are practically the same darn thing so the argument people make to just get the 8 when it costs more is nonsense. You want compact get a pixel 4a

I think that due to the current price of these different smartphones, the competitors of the Pixel 8a are more the S23 FE, Oneplus 12r/11, but above all, the Pixel 8.

i tried many mid range samsung A phones and a few pixel "A" phones as well to me personally I think the stock android and the more option, better camera more compact phone and kind like iphone but it's a android phone yeah to me personally I love Pixel.
