Please test the devices under real conditions. Everyone is pretty much only testing cameras, and many only in air-conditioned studios. Please take them outside in the warm, test the throttling from SoC and display point of view. It's useless to have a phone that's fast in synthetic tests if it's useless in everyday use, because it overheats in the summer heat and the super bright display takes back brightness just when you need it most. LOL. I fully agree with what you said. And you know which phone is the worst in summer heat? Its the iphones. Nobody agressively dims the screens faster than Iphones. I cant even use their phones as navigation devices because Apple agressive dims the screen in the warm summer months.
Right!? Canadians get shafted. I traded in my fold 3 and got a 1000$ trade in credit. This would never happen with Google and that really sucks. So many of us traded in old folds and will continue to do so until other manufacturers offer competitive trade in offers
Samsung S24+ compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL seems like a better value. It's cheaper, higher base storage of 256gb, and faster more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen3. The XL starting at $1099 USD with 128GB is disappointing...
The pixel camera will blow the s24 plus apart, the plus doesn't support macro nor 5x optical and the s24 has a grainy picture quality I had it before I sold it!
Great design, but I still feel that the prices are too high for the weak Tensor chip. Once they update that Tensor chip they can finally be called flagship devices.
@joelconolly5574 Nope, I have owned samsung's since the S9 but I've never watched a conference, or keynote, for phones. I have also never been as excited for a new phone launch since samsung's original Z flip.

I hate Samsung this year , they couldn't even give us the S+ sized front display on their Fold and here is Google doing just that .i hope they fire the new design chief .
You have to remember that Samsung's new Z Fold6 could potentially be made for those who want a one-handed use on the front screen but still want a foldable. If you don't like what Samsung is providing, move on to the next company. Not trying to defend Samsung

Wanna cater to the 1 handed users then make 2 versions. But this Appleshk way of doing things is not it. From the Fold 4 to the 5 to the 6 is just lazy, trust me if my carrier where i have Thr watch ultra and watch 6 currently financed supported one plus open i would deff switch .but American have been handed thr short end of the technological stick that what we got is Apple, Samsung Google, and Motorola. Im deff considering the pixel fold 2. Then my watch ultra wouldn't work so that won't work . (end rant)
That bright pink on the regular Pixel is one of the most stunning colours I've ever seen on a phone. I mean I'll probably just end up buying the boring black one, but I think I'll always regret not getting that colour.

3 months ago I got 16GB/512GB OnePlus 12 for 750USD and am damn happy. Really good cameras and battery life. Sure Pixels got better software processing for cameras, but that's about it.
For many, aside from the cameras, arguably the other features Google has are: 1) that it doesn't have a backdoor to a certain government, 2) it isn't a Samsung, and 3) the now extended guarantee of official software releases. There are better deals, better processors, more ram, higher storage options, and faster charging elsewhere.

Agree 100%, the resolution of the cover display the front facing cameras on both the cover and inner display and even the triple camera setup are all subpar, the 9 Pro Fold is not really a pro phone, I can't really justify that $1,800 price tag. I pre ordered the smaller 9 Pro, trading in my 8 pro

@PocketNow I really appreciate the design of the Pixel 9 Series. Although I always wait to purchase them when the prices go down significantly within the next couple of months (as most Android devices price depreciate unlike the iPhones). I *never* pre-order on launch date. That way I get to *avoid the first batch of bugs* and *hardware issues* they usually come with.
I personally think the foldable phone game will end, we all saw the Nokia ones in the past, smarter and faster than regular phone, but no one would want to carry that on day to day basis, and if you want to carry a tablet with cell, there are many options already.
Honestly, if I wasn’t using an iPhone, I would pick the Google Pixel which i have loved since the 2 XL and loved the software and the camera on my Pixel 6 and G Board is still the best Smart Keyboard I’ve used.
These will have the Tensor chip planted in them to host Gemini nano internally. Meaning the thing will be a hybrid between cloud and native computing. That's the major upgrade along with the update support. Meaning current devices will be trash soon. Unless you don't need the tensor chip.
I love how Google plays around with innovation. A few years ago I was asking why is Google making phones. They were ugly. Today Google is making some of the best design devices in America. Sadly in this country we are stuck with either Samsung or Apple. In Europe and Asia they have access to some of the most beautiful and better phones like Honor, Oppo, Vivvo, Huawei, Xiaomi and more. I am so excited to see Google push design language because it will force Apple and Samsung to do better. Huawei has one of the best folding phones but we can’t go to a store here to buy it. We have to buy them off EBay.
Been waiting weeks for this release, especially after Samsungs disappointment with the Fold 6. I have a ZFold 4 and this look more like a better upgrade than the Zfold 6
Any heating problem? I guess heating problem and fingerprint were the major problems with pixels and fingerprint issue has been resolved. I hope they have sorted out the heating issue (pixel 6 owner..)

Their hardware is nowhere near current iPhone 15 and let's forget about iPhone 16 and they are asking price similar to iPhone. People are thinking they are getting those AI paid ones like free for one year but the thing is you are already paying higher price for underperforming device.

Not that it really matters, Android 14 has been pretty great. Google are technically getting one over on consumers with this launch. If it is launching with Android 14 rather than 15, who wants to bet that the Pixel 8 series and 9 series will both stop on Android 21? I had a Pixel and was satisfied with it for years, but it was all in relation to the very low price at that time. Today I am no longer satisfied with the colorimetry of their photos like the rest of Samsung or Apple, everything is too fake. I would like the fold but in my country they won't sell it. The competition is fierce and folds like Vivo today cost half as much with useful and sufficient support for years. Congratulations to Google which this year is on the right track anyway, a path which has led to an inevitable increase in prices

The 9 Pro Fold looks awful with the huge bezel on the left side. The design is overly rounded, which doesn't look modern and gives a dated look. That G4 tensor chip is slow based on the stats. Google gives bigger screens and shrinks the battery capacity? That cover screen camera cutout looks huge too. The crease looks worse than the other foldables. I'm not a fan of the triple nipple but honestly that camera bump looks worse.
Google Photos kinda already does the screenshots thing. I type something in like "green" or "bridge" or "gsmarena" or "Dave Chappelle" and it gives Me a list of screenshots I took that match
All companies are moving their phone announcement events earlier to try to get ahead of Apple. They think no one is buying their phones because everyone has already bought an iPhone 😂
