Hey Des! Great video! Unfortunately, no clarity has been provided (by anybody yet, it seems), on the GPS efficiency with running, as well as whether the watch can be used to track complete runs, map the run, etc. without the phone nearby or coming along for the run. Would love your wisdom on that, thanks! Also, does it pair with Strava? Cheers, Ollie
If im not wrong the pixel watch 2 does already have built in gps so i would say that the 3 will also have this feature. You can pair your fitbit/google account to strava and get automatic upload of your activities.
Great first look, Des! One thing (of many) that drove me away from using the fb app on my PW1 was the inability to have multiple data screens with readable numbers. For example, I usually only want time, HR, and distance so I'd like those numbers to be quite a bit larger to glance at as I run down the road. Did you happen to notice if the fb app actually gives you any control over this with the redesigned app or do you just get the four fields with relatively small numbers compared to the actual space available on the watch face? Looking forward to your full review next month! Thanks!
Still got those annoying charging pins, should be wireless charging, that can utilise wireless power share from your phone, so useful. Looks like exactly the same heart rate sensors, just google making out they are better. Like the larger display and less bezel though. In a perfect world Apple watch would run and sync with Android phones, but I guess this is the closest second best.
Now, Apple not only has to catchup to Garmin, Polar and such, but even to WearOS. Strange... A lot has to do with the HRM which is only tracks HR (and HRV) is irregular patterns. Perhaps the new watch next month will come with a new, 24/7 hrm and Apple builds on the features shown for next WatchOS, adding comparable stuff.
Apple needs to 24/7 hr monitoring of all vitals ,even my mobvoi tick watch pro 5 does a better job than apple,Apple watch only measure fully when your exercising and then for 3mins after your training ,apple need to monitoring it continuously to get a better data
Reason I switched from Android to Apple, was because the apple watch was so much better. Currently rocking the apple watch 7, and it seems like nothing is as good on the android side of things. Hope I can switch back in 3-4 years. One concern is that membership subscription required with fitbit, that could be really annoying, since if I don't pay the monthly fee, I won't get everything.
I dont pay for premium and I have all stats I need. Premium is not neccessary if you dont need a personal trainer, sleep trainer improvement and so on, for me it is not so useful. But I totaly agree with you. Pay extra for more services is totaly bulshit
I’m an Apple user, seen all like the pixel 9 and the watch .. I just wanna switch … google (and google only, those Samsung shit and stuff I can’t) seems to be more vivid like, they are not limited to the mass population, they can turn over the year and change it all every year, witch is a problem for sure, but also a really great one … Like they introduce a lot just in 3 generations of watch, and the same in google pixel, where Apple … I mean, the watchOS 11 is garbage comparing to those .. I have watchOS 11 and it’s uselesss … and overall I found that Apple is for the pro for sure, but nothing pops out on the screen.. just by seen the pixel watch where there’s colors and theme.. just make the entertainment better .. Apple Watch is just … the way it is .. Daaamn if I wasn’t that deep into Apple, I would take the pixel and probably the pixel watch(or garmin tho)
I understand, I've specifically held off the PW1 and 2 just because of the hard upsell. Now that FB premium is for exercises and specific training, I don't need those. So I might just get the PW3 , I also have a AW7 and have never paid extra for what the watch does.
I have a Fitbit Charge 6, and when I walk sometimes, it counts as mountain biking. Google is pure trash when things come to fitness. Not to mention they are using the same trash sensors from the previous year.
