dude thank you! to the point and useful. I spent so much time between going to google clouds horrible documentation then getting cors errors , then coming to youtube only to find out that every video is either 3 years old or the guy calls it how to use places api and then shows it by using someone else's npm package...

I think It's free for a certain amount of daily/monthly requests, but you must set up billing to get it working.
