Check out the video we made about what FANG interns actually do on a day-to-day basis on Chris' channel here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S1Pr4P5F-mA.html
Sorry if this a kind of personal question, I will delete this message on request. BUT why have you been an intern in so many places? I tought it was a way to get your foot in the door for a non-intern position?
I am an intern in a startup in Bengaluru, India. It has been an awesome experience. I wrote some code that actually made an impact and in the process I learnt a lot. :)
Can you please make a video on "How Should We Study Data Structure & Algorithms At Home to Nail a Interview in Such Big Companies". And please try to include 'Resources'.
Dear Clement! I wanted to thank you for the informative and positive content you share! Your videos drive me study harder and feel more positive about chances to get hired as an intern / employee at FANG! I am at the beginning of the road, but hopefully I will succeed! Much respect to you and God Bless you! Writing to you from Kyrgyzstan and Turkey!
Hey, Clement, do you think your resume without the Math major, GPA, and Honors graduation back when you were seeking entry level roles would still get your hired?
It's hard to say. To clarify, I don't think that I had a particularly amazing GPA, and the only honors I had was being on the Dean's List my senior year; I'm not sure how much weight these two things had on my application. The Math major most likely helped, but since I've seen others in similar positions but without a Math degree (and without a STEM degree) get interviewed at Google, I think it's definitely possible that I would have gotten interviewed (and hired) without it.
My goal is to get a internship during college at a fang company. I’m a freshman in high school, should I start learning to code and what language should I learn and maybe make a project or something like that so that I have more to put on my application
You probably found an answer by now. And we're at around the same age bracket with the same plan :P I'd suggest going for Python, Java, or C++, but really any language will do; just pick one. It's much much easier to pick up on other languages after learning one.
Hey Clement, could you give insights into wether knowledge about other areas of CS( such as Operating Systems , Databases) are necessary for coding interviews.
The Mythbusters! I wonder if I'll have any chance as I was only one semester (as a CS student) at the Uni and now I'm at a bootcamp. If I will prepare properly (*cough*AlgoExpert) - will they reject me only for the fact that I don't have a degree?
I'm not exactly sure. It's very possible that, for silly administrative reasons, you'll have to be enrolled in a traditional college program to qualify for an internship. If that _is_ the case, but you want something similar~ish to an internship, you might want to consider the Engineering Residency program.
Hey clement just started watching your videos, and really appreciate what you do. I have a question for anyoythat can answer this, I did my associates degree in computer programming. Started when I was 26 now I am 28, only manage to do one intership but having problem finding a position because all this juniors positions ask for too much. Experience. Do you think that at 28 about to be 29 If you haven’t gotten a job in programming, would it be difficult to make it? Thanks!!
I don't think that age is a barrier; you can definitely get a job in programming! The whole "junior positions asking for a lot of experience" is an unfortunate truth of the industry, but there _are_ positions out there that don't ask for any experience; you just have to find them!
My guess is yes, because I doubt that there's a specific rule (at least on the side of the company) barring you from doing that. As for whether or not that's a good idea, I think that's up to you!
Nicola Amadio I really don’t think so. I don’t know what you’re doing your thesis on but unless you’re interning in R&D, the work you likely will be doing at an internship (especially a beginner internship) won’t be sufficient for your thesis. This might not always be the case but even then, you are most likely not allowed to publish research you are doing at an internship as your thesis. Theses some legality issues there if I remember correctly
Really liked the content.I am just losing hope, I need Ur help . once u told to text recruiters directly on LinkedIn or email them , I did. The LinkedIn people never replied and one Google recruiter replied,(I had her email id from the last interview) and she said no and asked me apply from the website . What should I do? I have applied to Google like 100 times and my CV got accepted just thrice.
