Stadia, Google's new streaming service is here and it works, but it still has a lot of missing features and a long road ahead of it. #ign #gaming #stadia
Same, why did they think they had a chance? Why would someone want to rely on the internet to play any game??? You could literally just buy a console, we get consoles on sale for $200 with games included this black friday, why would a consumer say "you know what, i think im gonna get this stadia over an xbox, ps4 or switch"
The more accurate statement is said just after "it's not ready yet." It's not bad, you could even say it's done better than any other option this far, but the extreme level of hardware and calibration a network like this needs takes an EXTREMELY long time and even more testing and re-testing, even for Google. Give it a while, and it will get much better over time. Have patience.
It works, it works pretty well. Yes, the platform still lacks a lot of features, even those as basic as essential, you can't even set vibration on the controller, but the core is pretty solid.
True, that would work better from a performance standpoint, but how many thousands of dollars would you have to spend on the hardware and the games to get the equivalent performance to what Stadia will offer for $130?
Most 4K/60 compatible gaming PCs are around $5,000 all put together that the cheapest, and when it comes to games, let's put it at 50 games for now, an extremely lowball estimate, that would be about another $3,000 at $60/game, so you would spend AT LEAST $8,000 from the get go, compared to $130 for the computer and $10/month for the games on Stadia.
It has one significant difference in that there is an unbridgeable gap. 18 gigabits per second cannot be reduced to 35 megabits per second w/out significant fidelity loss. Video game image data size increases faster than typical consumer internet speed. Eventually the lag issues will be reduced to a point where it's not an issue, but by the time bandwidth can actually do 40k/60/hdr well, even Nintendo will have far surpassed it.
I'm very impressed right now with it. Tried to show my coworkers destiny and all the servers were filled lol. The japanese fighting game was super fun and even though we didn't know the controls I didn't notice any lag. Metro exodus yesterday was pretty solid but today the video was very laggy. I'm sure as the system gets more integrated and not flooded with users it'll even out
R2D2 Inc you can't play console games on switch. Switch is like 10 FPS and there's little to none FPS game. Who doesn't have the space of a square foot box and a few discs?
Banana _face101 there are a few FPS games but if that is the only genre you care about just get a ps4. The switch also has a much larger game library than the stadia. The switch can also run fortnite at a solid 30 FPS. It is not on par with the ps4 or Xbox one but it works.
For me Stadia has worked with 0 issues, input lag is not noticable unless you really try and find it. My main issue is graphic quality but I hope they bump those up and it needs more features, but we know they are coming. This 100% feels like an early access but I'm ready for cloud gaming
I like that this review is less than 5 minutes and still touches on all the major points. I wish more reviews could be this detailed and short. Its the perfect package.
@@LarsRyeJeppesen except on every other platform you actually OWN the damm game, even if ps servers or steam servers shut down you can still play your games in single player mode, with stadia, when Google shuts it down as they have been doing with a lot of their projects, it's game over.
@@SirDella Sure.. but then you have so many advantages (platform-agnostic, no loading times, constant server upgrades etc) that for me they outweight the negatives.. I really don't care if I can't play a game 10 years from now... just like my PS2 games don't work any longer because I no longer have that console
Many people in south Asian countries like India including me is very excited for the Indian release as Google have plenty of data centres here in India 😃
It's their safety net. It makes them look cowardly and insecure about their "product" being appealing to consumers. Well they are correct ,this thing bites
I'm sorry, but did you ever spend even a second of research by yourself? This is $130 FOR THE FOUNDERS edition. For people that want to try it early and help them get on their feet. That's what a founder means. But if you actually spent more than 1 minute looking at information about Stadia, you'd see that it will be FREE in 2020
@@StadiaTime who wants to buy games that you lose when google deletes stadia and want to play a worse version of 1080p. if their 4k looks worse than 4k on a pc, hd will look bad too.
@@monoono4051 You do realize that can happen to Steam, PSN, XBL, Nintendo, etc? Did you all of a sudden forget that the Wii Shop was shut down completely earlier this year?
Lesson to every single person: Stop buying into the hype, you are rewarding exploitive mediocrity. Put more of your time and money into proven quality and credibility.
@@danielalexandre89 but you're only being a fear monger. This gaming isn't for everyone but it is for some people. Companies are going to keep making consoles so long as people are buying them and PC's aren't going anywhere. I have an XB1X, PS4pro and a PC with an AMD FX8370 and a GTX 1650 and my PC still blows my consoles away. None of them are ready for Cyberpunk, and I don't have the money for a new cpu, new ram, new Mobo, and possibly new GPU just to play it on PC and I don't feel like taking the graphical and performance hit of playing it on console, BUT I have fantastic internet and if they can give me 4K 60 then I'll get it there. I have no storefront or platform allegiance, I'll play where it looks and plays the best and if I can do that while on the go even better.
You are the same people who said nobody wanted an oversized iPod touch (iPad). Or that the Switch isn't as powerful as a PS3/360 and will be DOA against PS4 and Xbone. The moment a real Stadia exclusive comes out that lets you do things only possible with this technology, then you will all come around and say how amazing this is.
The best private, closed beta we've seen yet for cloud gaming. Time will tell, namely with the launch of free Stadia Base version, how this holds up. Performance is delivered, we only need the final features originally advertised.
Honestly it's actually a pretty neat idea. But it had to be done extremely well. I mean to the point where we start to question: "Whats the point of having a console or PC if i can just stream the game?" That would of been an interesting product. But instead we got a something that looks and feels a little half arsed. This could of been cool. I have no doubt Google will go at this again. I think they're onto something.
@@Mewws When there is progress being made in the console industry from both of these companies, it doesn't really look like they need any competition outside of themselves, does it?
@@Mewws ah yes, why would i want the ability to play offline or without latency? please google, dont only watch my personal info and search history, watch my gaming behaviors as well!
Latency is it could be reduced even more if they increase GPU/CPU performance, increase frames per second in rendering. But this takes more energy from their datacenters.
Worldwide people have internet connection issues, here in Brazil for instance in most cities it’s just really bad. It would recquire a lot better infrastructure to work for most countries
@@Joshinaround91 I totally agree, I just wish they would have advertised it as such. Stadia is awesome for casual gameplay but for 10 bucks a month, I really dont think it should be compared to a $500 xbox one X or a thousand+ dollar gaming pc
Dylan Slater yea but if I didn’t have the time to dedicate to gaming buying something cheaper then a console and a game here and there would be cheaper however to me that’s not the case so it all depends on the criteria of the consumer
Snuggieman definitely they missed out on that however the way they advertised got it a lot of traction but now that it’s out people are seeing that it shouldn’t have been
It actually works great on a 500mbps connection, which I feel like is the new normal these days in the US. I'll only go back to my PS4 for the last of us 2. Not being tied to hardware is great. Can play on any tv in the house, laptop, and soon to be most all tablets and phones. Plus, you always have the newest versions of the games.
I'm loving Stadia. I'm not using it as a replacement for my Xbox/PS4/Switch but I think of it as a complimentary platform and not a competitor. It's amazing being able to play Destiny pretty much wherever I want. Playing on my laptop and in bed via Chromecast was a surreal experience. I haven't had any issues. It has a lot of promise, and it's only going to get better.
