I started to love goosebumps with the original Horrorland book series I wish it can all be adapted with Stine’s permission on animated television great suspense, danger, scares and humour.
I started reading the original Goosebumps books when i was in the 3rd grade. I was in one of those classes that they put kids who have a lower reading level in. The Barking Ghost was the very first Goosebumps book i read and i continued reading them to the point that my reading level had improved so much, that they removed me from the class. It was actually sad because i had really liked it there. I also watched the reruns of the 90s Goosebumps show on Cartoon Network, it was a really big part of my childhood. The episode "Werewolf Skin" actually gave me nightmares. When i got to 4th and 5th grade, i started reading the HorrorLand books and they were pretty much the only thing i read but, i couldn't get a hold of all of them so i never knew what happened so, im glad that this video was made. I remember my friend, Kevin lied to me and told me that Goosebumps HorrorLand had a TV show and i was so excited but of course, it wasn't real. I read the Hall of Horrors as well and i remember the ending of "Birthday Party of No Return" making me really angry and i also remember that out of all of the Hall of Horrors, "Why i Quit Zombie School" was my absolute favorite. I continued reading Goosebumps till i was about 16 and i bought every single Most Wanted title. I also bought the Goosebumps HorrorLand video game for the Wii but i was never able to finish it.
I was in freshman year of HS when Goosebumps horror land starting coming out. By that point I wasn’t the target audience anymore but I loved these books (the 90s run of Goosebumps) as a kid. They were the first chapter books along with Captain underpants that I grew up reading as well the beginnings of my love for things scary. The horrorland series was a blast to read and it had a genuine ongoing mystery that piqued me to keep reading them. I’m happy these books were the opening for a new generation of kids to get into Goosebumps.
Great video man! I'll always have a soft spot for Horrorland. Goosebumps revival after a long 8 year hiatus is hard to explain how hype it was to kids nowadays. Was a bit too ambitious but still. My fave books by far in the series is Creep From The Deep & Scream Of The Haunted Mask. & yes I don't consider Hall Of Horrors part of it but appreciate the mention
I have a question. How would you all rewrite the first arc of Goosebumps HorrorLand if given the opportunity? Like, what part of the plot or its characters or any other little nitpick would you change to make them more better? It's because I’m in the process of rewriting/adapting them myself, and I need some inspiration lmao
If anything, I'd have them escape Panic Park on the Wheel of Fire or give that particular ride more importance somehow, considering it's ON THE COVER of that book haha. That and maybe just, completely replace Robby Schwartz and Dr. Maniac with something else entirely
