GoPro Hat Camera from Smatree

I just got mine and I do have to admit it beats the heck out of the head strap mount by itself or over a hat, if you take the hat off for just an instant to readjust it ( and we all do) it will scrunch up the hat and wont go back on right. I have a Gopro hero3+ black and it doesn't have video stabilization such as many of the newer Gopro do, so you have to be aware and more methodical when you turn your head from side to side. I find that it is quite a bit more noticeable (weight wise) from the plain case to the water tight case but still very doable. make sure to test the different angles, you will be surprised how what looks to be the perfect angle by looking at it and putting it back on your head isn't the best angle, use the app if you can that's the easiest way!

Looks good! Great review! My only concern with the hat as opposed to the regular head strap mount is that the wind might blow my GoPro off my head with the cap and all. I would be scared to wear in windy situations, the Grand Canyon for instance. The head strap is uncomfortable, but safer if you don't want to lose your GoPro. I suppose it depends on where you go with it. The hat might be useful and like you said, much more comfortable than the strap! Thanks for the review!

Still using the hat? Did your opinion change at all after wearing it for a while (e.g., comfort? effectiveness? etc.). I was actually specifically looking for a video on this hat. Thanks for the review. The one I'm looking at is a SmaTree hat as well but it's got the mesh back...So it may be a bit cooler in the summer. Thanks again.

I like the idea... don't have "the hat" but use the clamp and garmin virb ultra 30 attached... a little front heavy but I just tighten the back. works... thanks for review!

Good quality and comfortable as long as you stay in place. Hero 10 makes it front heavy. If you're running around the yard after the kids, it will fall into your face, every time. I counterbalanced the back and that worked.

First, the camera sticks up and away from the hat too far. If you're hiking near trees, it's going to get snagged too easily. Second, if you're out in freezing or subfreezing temperatures your ears aren't covered. You would have to put the hat over a skull cap that covers the ears, which is fine, but I'm not sure the hat will be large enough for that

And talk about the hotspot it creates on your head! And that pad is sewed in but it’s just the plate! There is an adhesive pad between the mount and the sewed in plate! Mine fell off thank god I didn’t trust it and attached a cord to the back of it!

I find that I have to make it very tight since the camera is heavy. Maybe my head is extra slippery. How has it been working out?

There's a clip mount without the "J" part, and without this thingy the gopro would be that much closer to your hat. I wonder if that would help with the weight burden on your neck since you don't have to swing a gopro extended away from your hat all day. Does anyone know what I mean?

Its not awkward at all , its totally in vogue at the moment , get out there on the catwalk of life and show it off .

I am watching your video for the first time and I must said first class, now, I have a question for you Jordan if I may, I am in the process of buying a new camera cap mounting, kind of like the one you have, so which camera would you recommend or brand for me to buy? I just looking basically for the best smallest camera and with the best resolution on the market, also I don`t if you know this but I hear that google just patented a new baseball cap with a built-in camera it is actually very small and uses no clip, as I mention it is built-in at the tip of the hat, very nice, do you know anything about it? and if you do, can make a video in regard that particular hat, thank you Jordan.

some suplier needs to make a smaller cam which connects to a smart fone as the go pro hat is too big really ,but theres a need there to fullfill.this rig is too big

just got mine a few days ago. i like it. it works great! i use the session with it. it's not awkward at all.

I went on amazon and found bunch of similar hat like this, so I bought the cheapest one $9, and the quality was horrible, the plate was attach to hat by double side tape... so if you are thinking about getting a hat like this, get this brand instead ...
