The Gopro Hero 11 Black. 8:7 ratio to 9:16 and then 16:9 from 8:7. This is finally what we needed from Gopro. With Insta360 giving us the option for editing the videos into long or short form with recording in one shot, finally gopro offers is the same. Recording in 8:7 5.3k Wide 30fps or 4k wide 60fps, you get the option to shoot long form and short form and not lose much quality. You still get the option for 10 bit color this. There might be a point when this is all I film in. It's makes for big files, but I can just export the ratio I want, delete the file from the app, and keep the original in the gopro cloud.

Great video! I recently bought a gopro 11 and I'm still trying to figure out the best way to record my stuff efficiently. Do you lose a lot of quality when recording in 8:7 and then converting to 9:16? I'd like to record my stuff for instagram reels while making sure I can rotate it to 16:9 for youtube in case I ever want to upload videos here. Is this possible with 8:7? Do you use a specific editing program or is the quik app good enough? Thanks for this video!

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. When it first came out I remember it would export at a lower resolution. After some firmware upgrades though on the phone app, you can export 5.3k and 4k both to 4k at 16:9 or 9:16. I haven't tried the other ratios yet.

Epidemic Sound!!! You can use the 8:7 ratio when you want to film one time and then make a short and long form from the same clip. They finally took a page from the Insta360 book.

So I should always shoot my fpv in 8:7 so I can turn it in a reel later and convert to 16:9 for full panoramic videos for my edits..

Can't hurt, and you'll get everything in one shot. I never tried it because I only have the betaFPV Cetus.

Hi, you must pay to change the aspect ratio from the app right? I can't seem to be able to do it when watching media from the camera via the app

Yes. As far as I know. Though I haven't tried to edit it in my editing software. The Quik app does a good job though of keeping the video proportions right. Also, let's you export the file in 4k and 5k without losing quality. I'll try it one day with my editing software one day just because it would be nice to know..

Hey yo! GoPro user here. If I want my video to be available in 9:16 AND 16:9, what aspect ratio should I film in? If I have one video, I want to create two versions of the same video. 9:16 for Instagram and 16:9 for personal viewing.

I would use the 8:7 for sure. You can use the quik app to crop both the 9:16 & 16:9 in 4k.

No, you just need a gopro account to login to the Gopro app so you can edit. With that you should be good 👍🏾

Why you set the lens in linear ? Don't you loss too much of the image ? The widescreen don't gives you better gain ?

Yes, linear does crop out some. It's a personal decision for me because I don't like the curves when using wide lens settings.

editing a video on your phone ? and it changes in the gopro ? or how it works ?

You can edit it on your phone using the Gopro Quik App. Yo shoot the footage in the 8:7 Ratio. Using that ratio, you edit the video in the quik app. You can change the lens perspective (Linear, wide, etc) and you can change the ratio (9:16, 16:9 4:3, etc). This way if you want to share the video in 16:9 and then post it later on Tik Tok in 9:16, you can do it all with one shot. You just have to crop what you want in the Quik app. Depending on the Ratio you can still get up to a 5k file.

Well, it let's you export to your phone with 3 options. 720p, 1080p, and 1116p.

So does this mean you can shoot a video and post to RU-vid or tiktok using the same footage? I have the go pro 10 and if it shoot tiktok I loose to much on The sides. So we can shoot one time and be able to set footage after the fact to 16:9 or 9:16 ? Trying to determine if it worth upgrading from the 10 to 11 for this efficiency! Thanks for your video.
