In your opinion, which GoPro would work best as a dashcam? I have a camera byCHORTAU and it's pretty good, except it only supports SD cards up to 32GB and it records in 3-5 minute chunks so that as it records and fills itself, it deletes the oldest files so the higher the resolution you set, the fewer of these five minute chunks there are. IIRC, the camera has a maximum 30 to 40 minutes of record time, depending on the resolution. Does GoPro have such an option? While a much longer record time is what I am going for, I would feel safer with a camera that records in short chunks like this which makes it less likely you'd lose your entire recording of an incident if a file becomes corrupted for whatever reason. You only lose 3-5 minutes rather than the entire recording.
It does called Loop recording up to 20mins but problem is the gopro is so unreliable and finiky that you have to keep checking it. Examples like overheating and image Freezing.
Would you say it be worth to just go straight for the 12 instead of the 11 or 10? I recently found a GoPro 7 Silver when I moved (from a roomie that left it behind) and it’s fun to have an action camera. It’s in decent condition. I’ve taken some Timelapse videos of me driving around on road trips and went one weekend of filming around standard video of an amusement park and biking around and it was cool. But I just don’t like that it doesn’t have a swappable battery (and it is a six year old battery) along with no interchangeable camera lens worst case it cracks. I’m not much of a vlogger or someone to take a bunch of video or pictures on my phone in general. But maybe I can be with a new hobby and thought may as well just shoot for the top camera atm and just future proof myself to learn all these new settings. I know I won’t mess with LOG or 5.3K res. I know the 11 is identical but the only thing that is nice for a noob like me is the screw hole on the actual camera. Lmao. I’m not too worried on price cuz I’m seeing some sales around or second hand sellers for 12s. But for someone who actually knows about cameras, just thought I’d ask.
If the price isn’t a problem, go for the 12; it has improved battery time (they removed GPS) & for beginners it has HDR video & photo which is pretty cool to share straight from the camera.
@@DroneFate epic! I don’t care for GPS (at this point point) cuz I don’t think I’ll care to log my trips. Plus could always grab a GPS log from the App Store worst case. I heard the HDR was hit and miss but I think was concluded that it’s best for sunny days. I can’t recall if you said that or others. But HDR does sound good in general. Plus I may get that Lens 2.0 mod cuz I heard it’s great for Timelapse videos. So yeah, sounds good! Thank you for replying!
@@SomeHyena HDR is great but yes on days that are well lit, i haven’t tested it on overcast days but it’s awesome for vlogs, in 4k 8:7 aspect so it’s great to split that one video for vertical or horizontal. I do recommend becoming a gopro subscriber too, got $100 off when i bought the 12. If you’re on IG, do send me a dm @dronefate would like to see your gopro content & feel free to ask any more questions you may have now or in the future.
