Here's a short GoPro video of RM1990 taken in Reading from Underwood Road to Calcot. The camera was mounted using the GoPro suction cup mount attached to the rear of the bonnet. The video shows the bus travelling mostly over what used to be Reading Mainline Line F. The superb wide angle on these cameras make it look as if we are travelling quite fast! This particular model, the GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition is controlled by Wifi, either by the small fob it comes with or as in this case via GoPro app on my android phone!

Very nice rm 1990. My dad (Robert dale who is very well known in the Routemaster association) owns rm 2037 which was at reading mailine. It’s number in the fleet was no.30

I've known Robbie for many a year and used to drive RM2037 (No.30) many a time. I took it to Rotherham once to get it's roof dome repaired.

Good gear changes by the driver, giving a two second pause between each change just as I do when I drive RMs737 and 875.

Graham Laurie c these busses are automatic I don't understand why he's using gears manually like that not giving a lot of revs giving a 2 second gap when auto changes the same time as he's doing it

You can change gear full throttle on these and also give more revs than this also pulling away in second when 1st is powerful and quicker, he is also not dropping down into second round bends or slowing down

Just for the record, this particular bus has it's auto transmission disabled as are many Routemasters now due to the fact they are troublesome when they go wrong, leaving you with only one forward and one reverse gear if the speed sensitive drive fails.

@@acceptableandbornind80s32 oh i get you! Yes, some of them really were sluggish. Hated knowing I was about to have to spend 4 hours behind the wheel of a rough one.

@@adamconner5584 that's the thing about getting a rough one definatly. I found that in the early stages of driving them in service that changing gear for some people including me was a distraction from what's happening on the road and turning et well it felt that way but nothing happened . But I would make sure I didnt try to change where in the middle of steering. But I got used to it bit by bit.
