He sure handled that chair blowing over like two seconds before entering the start box. Sheesh! That was tough conditions. I live nearby and we love the cold but trying to gallop and jump in the slop with wind like that ain't for the faint of heart so well done!

Corsair strikes me as a very big striding horse that can be a it strong like Riot. But what a great ride!! And being second out, and still finishing 7th is fantastic!! Congratulations on your top ten finish with him!! A top 10 finish as well, is nothing to sneeze at with a course that gets so sloppy by the time you ride Sharpie and Lee. Very wet and deep footing from the sounds of it. Great ride, and congratulations again, on your top ten finish with Corsair!! From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 💖 🇨🇦 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

A fairly new ride, a challenging course in tough conditions, an attacking starter's chair and a vehicle cutting across in front of you as you come down a narrow chute...well done!

Video started and I thought (oh wow, so windy). Then saw the lady's chair blow over and was waiting for her to notice and pick it up but, nope >.

That was really bad, most horses wouldn't step over that chair. Total display of incompetence and lack of awareness. Geez
@shadrackzulu6138
@shadrackzulu6138 2 года назад
@@tryingmybestokay Cut them some slack. Working all day out in conditions like that (cold/wet/windy) isn't all that much fun, even for a volunteer. The hoodie probably kept them from seeing/hearing the chair. Yea, they should have been more aware but I think your assessment is a little harsh. If you haven't worked as a starter, give it a try some time. It ain't that easy.

Agree, the comment is too harsh. I’ve volunteered at these events for nearly 40 years, and cold plus wind plus sloppy ground plus rain add up to the worst conditions possible for volunteers as well as for horses and riders. Sure, not noticing that the the chair toppled when it did is not good, but the volunteer obviously didn’t see it in the two seconds that elapsed before Elisa started. Same for the guy driving the truck-he was either repairing the fence or the torn-up ground just before the fence when someone called out that a rider was coming. He couldn’t see Elisa, but he hustled to clear the path to the fence. Open prelim horses usually start two minutes apart, so horses come packed tightly together. He didn’t lollygag in fixing the fence. The timing between riders is so tight. If hundreds of volunteers didn’t turn out to do these jobs-if the jobs were done by paid employees-entry fees, which are already regrettably high, would soar, making eventing unaffordable for many people. Every time I volunteer at a big event like this, it costs me in travel time, food, gasoline, and hotel stays-about $200 in average, sometimes more if I eat out at a restaurant rather than brown-bagging dinner in my hotel room. I do it because I want other people to enjoy this sport and to keep it affordable for them. If a volunteer makes a mistake, please cut them a break.
