I think what happened was, she knew that the answer he was expecting from her was for example John Lennon or Ringo Starr and she decided to be "smart" and answered cockroaches (in fact they're not beetles at all) He spotted it straight away and the joke was gone. If he'd responded "mine's Ringo" it wouldn't have had the same comedic effect.
