I like he's not just trash talking, he's more mature and evidences others' strengths as for Nick Rod or Andrè I liked his ADCC rank too: Marcelo, Roger, Rafa, Andrè
Agreed, This is the best version of Gordon Ryan. Dont get me wrong, I love when he kicks up the trash talk. But to also see this side of him as a mature, top-of-the-game competitor and leader, it's inspiring. And it is very clear that he is a student of the sport. He isnt just a dude that crushes everything. He really studies the Art and its best
He's basically respectful to everyone in the game until they badmouth him. Look at the way he talked up Nicky Rod too. Hard to fathom how it's gone completely off the rails now
Some of the best advice I’d say I ever received is that you shouldn’t focus on the color of your belt. Throughout my journey in Judo and at the beginning of Jiu Jitsu I would focus on the belt to much to dictate how good I was. When you focus on building skills is when you really start to elevate your game. Ever since that advice I’ve evolved myself and at a faster rate 💯 👏
@@eddiesalazar971 Thank you bro! I hope you enjoy your gear when you receive it 🔥 getting new FK gear is definitely a top best feeling for me 👌 thanks for the love 🙏💯🔥
I'm so hyped for ADCC this year and I don't even train jiu jitsu but understand it, know all about it, and have been following the sport since 2020. If people like me are this freaking hyped over it you know it's about to leak into the mainstream any year now.
Thats pretty rare for a non bjj student to become a fan of the sport. Now do yourself a favor and start training youll love it and you have a good head start over the typical white belt hobbiest because you actually watch and understand what you are watching.
I get what you all mean, but it feels odd when you compare it with other sports. Couldn't you say you understand baseball, and know all about it without actually playing baseball? Or basketball, football, soccer, boxing, tennis... We shouldn't be this dismissive with people who just enjoy being spectators. You certainly can understand the objective in JJ, and know all the famous grapplers, their strengths and weaknesses, and enjoy their matches without having to train yourself. Maybe Demetri would enjoy training JJ? Maybe. But that's a separate issue, and he shouldn't be pressed to train because "he can't be a real fan otherwise"
@@adrianarroyo937 exactly what I was thinking. There are so many experts in every other sport and they don't play it. We gotta stop this "if you don't train you don't know" B.S. Obviously there are things that we on the mats would understand better than the average Joe but damn we don't have to attack this poor person just because they choose to be a fan.
This Gordon Ryan, speaking about Nicky Rod, is the most terrifying of all the others. All Facts, all Respect, and why, as much as I appreciate Nicky Rod this year, he has a mere 10% chance of defeating Gordon Ryan. Nicky Rod in two years will be incredibly formidable, and with his trajectory and Gordon Ryan's both continuing to ascend, Nicky will narrow the gap. Gordon is slightly luring Nicky Rod with the physicality aspect because it will present issues, but it also presents opportunities. I enjoy the fact that Gordon Ryan always engages in mental games.
@ryry32 i used to think the same, until i started bjj, now i am amazed by the sport, they may not be an intense, high activity sport ( half the time anyway) but the skill level is incredible
The best piece of advice I have been given is a little cliche, but as a white belt, my professor told me to focus on incorporating the technique of the day in live rolling. It’s something I knew I should be doing but never really did. This has helped me improve so much and I don’t get subbed anymore trying techniques I saw on instagram.
Lol yea I’d say drill drill drill a lot of people wanna roll roll roll cuz they feel like there “going hard” and “putting work in” but really there just practicing being bad. Drill a ton atleast 30min after every class do it 1 month and you’ll never regret it
Gordon's attitude has gotten so much better, imo. He has become alot more factual and analytical without diving into the whole polemic side of things. At least, from what I'm seen/heard in these types of official interviews. Good on him.
“[Nicky Rod] is easily the most physical person I’ve trained with” We know bro, we see the videos of him suplexing white belts on their head every day!
If Tim Kennedy opens his own vlogging channel and everyone sees what kind of a diabolical superhero he is and the things he does on a daily basis, the internet would implode on itself
Beat piece of advice I’ve gotten was to stop rushing the process. Improving skills in bjj doesn’t happen overnight, it comes with time and understanding.
The best advice I have ever gotten is to realize the most precious commodity we have isn't money, wealth, cars, women, etc......it is time. Time is finite, it's fleeting, once a moment has passed it's gone forever. Given that time is the most precious thing we have, you should only spend time on things that will advance you as a person whatever goal(s) you have.
The Moment you are Born, your Hourglass (Lifetime) is Turned and U cant do anything to Stop the Sand From going down. Sounds cheesy but that Perspektive Made me value my time alot more
This version of Gordon Ryan does exist. interesting. I knew he'd be very knowledgeable about the grappling games. That's no brainer but the way he analyses other competitors and the grappling game here is pretty pleasant and impressive.
I love he’s wearing a rash guard with Joe Rogan Podcast on it! Joe Rogan is hands down one of the nicest, most humble guys on this planet. Can’t wait to see you fight Gordon.. You’re such an inspiration for me.
In general I love Danaher's (and Gordon's..) Judo-ish style as well. Widespread use of Japanese terms, Judo triangles, foot sweeps etc. I'd love to see ''BJJ'' evolve into just JJ and go back to its original source.
Not sure if anyone else caught it, but as Gordon was asked if he had anything new or a trick to brake out at ADCC! then goes into grappling the guy and has that to guy in the same position he ends up winning and submitting Andre Galvao with!!! Lol.. this guy sent the biggest Sub and no one caught it lol... 🐐 Shit
@futurekimonos Actions speak louder than words . Be Humboldt , listen and show up to classes as much as you can . To be a better person today than the day of yesterday .
The amount of repect i have for this human being is beyond explanation. He is a living legend. If i ever have to teatch a kid some be like someone i would say Gordon.
GR is a very dynamic and intelligent individual. People hate meatballs with a brain, it causes hyper insecurity complexes (haters) 🤣. Love to see it, keep going…💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🧠🧠🧠
" La vida es crear espacios en cada momento de la vida, del partido, independientemente de tu estado mental o físico" Ese es el consejo más valioso de mi maestro Luis Ciraiz.
dunno if it can be more main stream... you need to understand the game more for it to be fun to watch... if you dont train jitz you miss out so much of what is going on that it becomes boring fast.
Rener is cool but Gordon would demolish him quickly. Roger would be a cool battle though. He would likely beat Roger. Gordon is like 98% sure to beat anyone in the world.
Jiu jitsu is weird, in any other combat sport like MMA, Muay Thai, or boxing if you are caught having a fake match or throwing a fight there are major repercussions like fines and even sometimes jail time like in Thailand a Thai fighter was caught throwing a fight and now he's sitting in jail for a year because of it but in jiu jitsu it's just normal for teammates to meet in a bracket and decide who they want to proceed on with the tournament, I'm glad they are starting to crack down on that shit but it's super weird that the people who run the tournaments allowed that shit to go on for so long
sounds h0miesecksual to get all buttmad and try fining.. if anything the officials should try competing themselves instead of being gambling degenerates (as in the thai case)
High wrist guillotine. Strangle arm goes under chin, with the back of your hand to their shoulder line (like a high elbow guillotine). Other arm goes under the armpit and grabs the strangle-arm elbow. Huge pain in the ass to deal with lol
if you ever want this sport to become mainstream you need 2 main things, eliminate guard pulling and create penalties for stalling forcing competitors to attack more even in sub only, otherwise people just wont watch
Need to stop butt scooting and this thing where they sit Indian style. As a combat sport that is weak AF. I have a purple belt with a bunch of stripes, im well aware of the reasoning people give for this, my opinion is it’s unacceptable and it won’t be a good spectator sport until butt scooting stops and takedowns are part of the game, not some area of the fight that you can just avoid by sitting down
@@lyesaitouamara8766 sometimes I do the same. He can be a bit much. I have to be in a particular mood to deal with him. That said, he’s an interesting guy and super legit.
@@alastormeowly5102 What do you mean military controversy ? I know he was SF but I thought he was legit across the board, are you implying he isn't ? Beyond his personality I mean. I generally agree with his opinion especially regarding politics (gun or otherwise) but I'm french so different perspective.
@Duncan Macleod yes you're right. but as you said, no regulations whatsoever and the promotion which they are competing under even officially states that they are not going to test. what would you think if your kid would tell you that "hey, I want to be like these athletes and in the ADCC"?
@@Zilperi I guess. Anyone who knows what they are doing easily gets around those tests. It's more for appearances than anything else and its expensive.
