I love these. They were supposed to be built by Nucamp here in the USA and at dealers in 2020 but we all know what happened in 2020. Maybe someday Nucamp will finally get them built here.
Charging around country lanes at £29k 🥵🥵🥵 I’d be leaving it on the trailer! A nice “middle class” caravan in a “classless”society! Sorry but for the first time EVER! I have to strongly disagree! 🥲🥲🥲
Honestly... It seems very much more about style than substance. They really haven't thought about the user. For instance; the bed is for shorter people, but those shorter people would struggle using the loo. Also, how hard is it to put a tap in the washroom? And a door catch! Looks great, but honestly I couldn't live with it.
Hi Andrew, although more known for Motorhomes, Wingamm do fibreglass monocoque caravans as well. They are also available in the U.K again. I’d love to hear your thoughts. John
Sorry but if I could afford to spend £28k on a caravan I wouldn't buy that! Looks gorgeous but when you get up close there are far too many impractical things. You picked up on the door having no catch but didn't mention that when it's open it's partly in front of the window by the look of it? Bespoke it may be but I think I'd rather spend less on a bigger and much better equipped van. If I wanted something that stands out I would look at an R Pod for £16000. Would love to see you review one of those.
£29k for the Barefoot next year? I can get a beautiful Bailey Black Edition with a fixed bed for that and I wouldn't worry about grounding it. This one isn't for me.
I like the Barefoot, if you have the money and want something quite unique and personal to you then why not. Good to see you both back out again 👍🐾Karina
Why do caravan and motorhome manufacturers put high toilets in vans clearly meant for short people? I'm 162cms or roughly 5 foot 4 inches, so I would fit in the bed no problem, but my feet would dangle 8 inches or 19cms on the loo! I have to take a fold up stool on journeys in my Autosleeper
Surprised to see such a good looking wet room. But the sizes overall are rubbish, for the sake of six inches longer and wider the bed could be useable but at 29 grand and one high up socket in the kitchen it's way overpriced even for being bespoke.
Nice camper but the mattress size is ridiculous. In the United States a standard twin bed is 75 in long and a standard queen size mattress is 80 in long. I'd be happier in a two person tent which is much longer.
I love it. I am a little Smurfette at 5 foot 2 and it looks perfect for me. I can't imagine I would ever have that money available though and I would be a bit worried about security with them being limited edition and so collectable. They would definitely stand out and catch people's eye, even thieves!
Simply obsessed with this wee trailer! ❤️ Looking forward to the North American release this summer (hopefully!) 🙏🏻 🇨🇦 Thank you for this honest and closer assessment! I love it even more. 🌺🌼
Dougal wasn’t allowed in? Rubbish. If Dougal ever travels to North Carolina, I would be happy to allow him into my RV. Andrew, not so much. Loved the video.
What a pretty unit, it seems a shame that when it was first designed the internal inches were compromised. I am 6ft so would never be able to sleep (or shower?) without discomfort........ However it's nice to see something different in the market, and thanks to you & Dougal for bringing it to us. Happy trails!
I just saw a detailed video of the U.S. version, would you consider a comparison? Heard the price is approximately $51,000 U.S.,mentioned in the Comments section. That bef was designed by someone who wouldn't camp.
Love the Barefoot..ideal for a woman or a single. Can't get anything like it in Australia. I am not in the market for life on the road anymore at present anyway but I love to Dream.. Must have Dreams. Thank you Andrew and I just love Dougal to bits ! Always makes me smile..Take care.
I love this, for just me and my dogs, seriously thinking about ordering. Sending email to Barefoot to ask if they have a French based dealer. I appreciate your vlogs Andrew.
Hello, thanks for the video, you just reminded me why we went for an 8m twin axle, fixed bed, large center bathroom caravan! However, I was talking to the manufacturers (Watsonian) a couple of years ago before the Barefoot was launched, and they told me that this was not aimed at the traditional caravan market. It is aimed at people new to the idea of caravanning who want to go away for the weekend to a festival or suchlike. I think that it fits that market, which is very style conscious. Us traditional caravanners would find it very pretty but not at all practical, but as I said it's not us they are aiming at. Well done to Watsonian for backing a new idea. KH
NO grill or oven, nowhere to properly sit your kettle.... no door catch..... no window in the door.....for £28,000....! I think the socket near the seat might make it difficult to put a plug in there. It should be moved to the left...
I would have one tomarrow to match my classic car but....I would have to take out a second mortgage to buy it and that is not a figure of speech!. 12 years ago I could of afforded one. Still I am still very lucky to own an Eriba Puck*.
I find two plug sockets is not enough, one kettle plus TVs and where will you plug in your microwave (you can get one for caravans and not use you house hold one)
Some small details that need thinking through, like socket placement etc. The mains one in the kitchen needs to be lower down, and around the side of that cupboard, rather than on the front, so the cables won't need to trail over the sink. The other mains socket, along with 12v and aerial point again need moving from the side of that locker (your head or feet might end up there in bed mode) and moving to the vertical wall unit above the dresser. Surprised these sort of things not been picked up by the designers? Yes, it's expensive, but it's bespoke, and that affords that premium. It's not for me but I see the appeal.
Cute; just way too small, even for one, and redunculously expensive. I paid the same for my Adria Alpina 2 years ago which I live in alone six months of the year in absolute bliss.
So, do they ask for you inside leg measurement before you stump up the 29k for the pleasure of picking your own flowery curtains, I can just picture waking up one morning and seeing a pair of legs hanging out of the side window. 😜
This product looks great but I can't believe people are paying that kind of money. It's the same here in Canada, prices of trailers and truck campers are ridiculous. Camping is no longer a poor man's vacation that's for sure. To get a new pickup truck and the smallest camper one is looking at close to a hundred thousand dollars. That is insane.
I guess there is also the argument that camping is very much NOT just a poor man's vacation - it's open to all! You can still pick up far cheaper campers :) Thanks for watching.
Certainly looks like a well built and stylish caravan. For me personally, I think being on the road for some time in this would be a bit claustrophobic for even one person. But, I'm sure this van would suit a lot of people, especially for the price and build quality.
Another great video and great to have you back. I parked my Go Pod next to a Bare Foot in Scotland it made the Go Pod look big, but Freedom & Go Pod are half the price, that’s around £15k extra for a small bathroom, but still a lovely well made caravan.
Lovely van Andrew, but pricey. Having never towed before my wife and I wanted something compact to tow so we’ve ordered a Go Pod. These are GRP construction too like the barefoot. Have you ever seen or reviewed one. Can’t wait to collect ours.
I've seen one but not reviewed one. They really are compact! But certainly fit the bill of 'small and simple' which I see to be focussing on at the moment.
Yay (sound of a diminutive person rejoicing!), saw them in the flesh at the NEC, very cute and lovely to see something completely different available for those want something quite different, perfectly happy with my Eriba mind you and I can actually reach the cupboards unlike lots of conventional vans ;-)
I am 5'7", not really diminutive, but not really tall either. But I never sleep completely stretched out (who does?). So, I think I would have no problem with the sleeping arrangement, even the single. I love this caravan. Been watching it for several years and now it's available in the U.S. It's so bright and cheery, I don't think I would get claustrophobic at all. But, it's just me and my little Shih Tsu dog. Two adults might be really bumping into each other.
Oh wow, that'll be the materials price increase kicking in. I'm afraid it's happening across the board. The Bailey Discovery I was using increased by £1000 during the four weeks I was using it!
Why didn’t they have a useable large drop down wash hand basin. They could have but a small shelf for a kettle above the hob attaching it to the dividing wall between the WC and kitchen area.. I probably would have preferred to see a solid front instead of that huge window .replacing it with sky light strip instead..
What a great review that was. Honest and factual. Great idea measuring stuff. If you're 6;7" you're going to struggle, but of course someone that tall isn't going to buy one, but it doesn't make it a bad caravan. They are beautiful, without a doubt, they are pricey, however it's built to order and bespoke and I think you get what you pay for! You can't get away from the size of it, of course. I'm sure there are many that consider a twin axle too large. Each to their own and we all have different requirements and budgets. Thanks for sharing...
Cheers Graham! Exactly, it is NOT a bad caravan by any stretch - it's all about giving folks the facts to be able to make up their own minds what they can and cannot live with. It's not often I wish I were smaller - but it would certainly be a bonus if I were to buy this one! Thanks for watching mate.
Very nice niche product designed by someone who couldn't find a cute, small caravan for weekending / festivals etc. (Hence on-board water tank). Never intended to compete with mainstream tourers. Good to hear manufacturer has healthy order book and is meeting its target niche..
