In February 2023 we went gorilla trekking in Rwanda. It's an extremely expensive, privileged and for most, a once in a lifetime experience.
But is it actually worth the $1500 price tag to go trekking through the dense rainforest around the Volcanoes National Park, in search of habituated gorillas?
Well, you're about to find out!

baby apes are the cutest...so innocent...playful and curious...they want to be friends..especially the gorillas and baby orangutans..would love to spend a season working/caring with them...and especially meeting the people who seem so nice...

Rwanda was an amazing experience and to see these animals in their natural world and also the conservation effort around them was a real privilege. Thanks for the comments.

I hope it has had a positive impression. Not everyone is in agreement with this type of interaction. But overall the impact of eco-tourism is generally a positive one. Thanks for watching.

What a great video!!!! Thanks a lot! May I ask what zoom lens did you use? 200 mm?
@smallplanetpix
@smallplanetpix 4 месяца назад
Hi. Glad you enjoyed the video. I was using the Canon RF70-200 which is an f2.8 lens so very good for low light situations. I think the 400mm i took was a little over the top. The zoom lens was far more useful.

Thanks for sharing a fantastic experience. I am a professional studio musician but I consider the soundtrack in this video detracts from the peaceful context. Just my personal opinion. Cheers.

I don’t get going into their territory, but if it provides a living for much needed jobs and helps preserve their habitats then I suppose it’s for good

Thanks for the comment. Our guide was telling us that it's quite common to see the gorillas in the farm fields close to where people live and work. So i guess their territory is everywhere. We as humans need to learn how to co-exist with the wildlife around us.

Hi. Yes the porters were tipped above the usual rate. They are an essential part in the overall experience and i fully recommend anyone who does this activity to hire a porter.

Great video!!! How long are the treks in this park?
@smallplanetpix
@smallplanetpix 16 дней назад
The gorilla trek can be many hours if the animals are deep in to the forest. Maybe only two hours if they are closer.

Hi. The gorilla trekking permit for Rwanda is around $1500 alone.

If you really want to help the gorillas stop being self centered and leave a huge donation and DON'T hike out to where they are trying to get away from humans and development. Leave them alone. Send money.❤
