Am I the only one who feels like phase 1 is the most underrated time of Gorillaz? I mean we got their break-through hit Clint Eastwood, but a lot of other songs on self-titled are slept on all the time.
I agree the self-titled album will forever be my favorite album because of the songs I love that the album can switch from something that starts off normal with songs like Re-hash and 5/4 and then slowly gets more not distorted but different in a way I can't explain but then you hear songs like Man Research, Double Bass, and sound check but man that album is so good and I think people should talk more about the self titled
@@Loco2005 I understand that point of view since it was off putting for me when I listened to it for the first time but I just thought that the songs were good even if it was eerie
These demos were recorded at Damon Albarn's Studio 13 in London, England and at Geejam Studios in Portland, Jamaica between December 1998 and October 2000 while Damon was recording material for his own band Blur's album, which is called 13, released in 1999. This LP was released December 10, 2021 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band's debut album by supplying the release with official Gorillaz music material such as Live at The Forum, London in 2001.
I almost forgot about this release. I only listened to these once. As a kid, I used to hunt down every released and leaked track on the Internet from Phase 1 and 2. Pretty wild some unheard stuff from Phase 1 got released in recent years.
This was all thanks for #FreeTheSea because many fans wanted them to release the songs that weren't released on Plastic Beach and now there's a lore for them to release more content from each album
@@Loco2005 One of the bonus tracks on a special edition of the album _13_ by Blur is a song called _I Got Law_ (or it might be _I Got The Law_ I don't 'member), and that song is the earliest demo version of _Tomorrow Comes Today._ And since the very first thing that Gorillaz released ever was an EP released on 27 November, 2000 called _Tomorrow Comes Today_ that featured 4 songs - _Tomorrow Comes Today, Rock The House, Latin Simone_ (the original English language version with 2-D's vocals), and _12D3,_ as well as the music video for _Tomorrow Comes Today_ (which is therefore the very first music video Gorillaz ever released), I consider _Tomorrow Comes Today_ to be the original Gorillaz song, their first official song. Plus, that EP was _intended_ to be a single, so it was supposed to be that the song _Tomorrow Comes Today_ and its music video would be the very first Gorillaz release ever, with _Rock The House, Latin Simone,_ and _12D3_ as its b-sides. But back in 2000, it was against the rules for a release consisting of more than 3 songs to be labeled a single. Any release consisting of 4 to 6 songs had to be labeled an EP, and any release consisting of 7 or more songs had to be labeled an LP. So since the (intended) _Tomorrow Comes Today_ single had 4 songs total, it was required to be labeled an EP. Later on though - on 25 February, 2002 in the UK and 12 March, 2002 everywhere else - _Tomorrow Comes Today_ *WOULD* be released as a single (the final single of Phase 1, actually, unless you count _Lil' Dub Chefin'_ - the single that was releaed by "Spacemonkeyz" to promote the _Spacemonkeyz versus Gorillaz: Laika Come Home_ LP - as a Gorillaz single). This time, the single would consist of _Tomorrow Comes Today_ as the a-side, with _Film Music_ and _Tomorrow Dub_ (an early version of _Bañana Baby,_ one of the tracks from the _Spacemonkeyz versus Gorillaz: Laika Come Home_ LP) as the b-sides.
@@Loco2005 oh okay. When it gets released to iTunes will it be the expensive price it is for vinyls or will it be super cheap because it is digital music?
@@aalvarez1033 The price will probably be very varied because they release content that has not been released and is enjoyed more in physical than having it in digital
@@vectorjeldes That is justified because the first time it was played in a concert, the song had no name at that time and was the second song of the concert and the song lasted 2 minutes with 2 seconds
