@@lucasmariano8311Yeah, I downloaded this when I was in elementary school. Definitely was never lost media, nor even hard to find, if you knew the name of the song. The full version is definitely a lot more rare, though. I don’t recall learning about that until more recent years.
So this is the bottom of the void. It’s a lot cozier than I thought it would be tbh! I like to imagine Damon Albarn hunched over his laptop, listening back to this at 3am, wired and sleepless, thinking “This is it!” I love it. Happy radio
I am one of those people who like to imagine music videos to their favourite tracks, while listening and I associate this one with 2d riding on a lame mare through a barren desert and once he arrives at the destination (a tall wooden post with wheeled beds ribboning from it) he begins to sing the mantra ("happy radio") and hundreds of black-clad cultists (wearing capes resembling Ku Klux Klan's but the masks are more like those of a plague doctor) dance around the rusty beds and once they're done, liches wrapped in blood-stained blankets rise from the dead and stand up from the beds .And every gunshot from the song's background is followed by a bright lightning among dark gray rainclouds. P.S. Too weird, right? What would you like to see as a music video for this song?
I absolutely love this idea, but in my opinion I imagine 2D next to a Christmas tree on the Kong studios landfill singing this while inside Kong studios a bright Celebration of Christmas is being held and outside it's just depressing, while 2D sings this.
It is not fuxking almost Christmas its barely even Thanksgiving when you wrote that. But I would be a lying bastard if I havent been streaming this like crazy the past mounth either.
I searched through all of the Gorillaz albums to find this and it wasn’t anywhere. I totally thought it was in a certain album only to find out it wasn’t. I vaguely remembered that it had Christmas in the title and it sounded like there were cracking branches. In my last effort to find this I searched “Gorillaz Christmas cracking branches” and I finally found it lol What a crazy song lost in the void
Haha I love stories like this. I found this song by looking up "All Gorillaz songs" on youtube and finding a ginormous playlist and this was one of the songs on it
thanks for the upload ! i never knew about this version. are you able to upload a link again for DL? the link description no longer works. also, i'm also noticing the track on the discogs CD is actually called "bananza", not "bonanza" like the shorter version.
This song is kinda creepy just because how mysterious this is cus like why was this made, how does this relate to christmas, why are the only lyrics happy radio and so on and so on.
if i were to guess it's because the radio is more cheerful around christmas, yknow to go along with the chill happy vibes ol' saint nick brings! so it's happy radio over and over again because that's what radio becomes around christmas, happy, filled with christmas whimsy
@Illbrit Mayner Ok? This song was written/recorded in 2003, during the original _Gorillaz_ album era/Phase 1 [Celebrity Takedown]. Nearly 2 years before _Demon Days_ came out, nearly 2 years after their last album - _G-Sides_ - came out, 4 years before _D-Sides_ came out, and like a year before they even began seriously RECORDING AND CREATING stuff for _Demon Days_ + Phase 2 [Slowboat to Hades]. So that tidbit seems just a smidge irrelevant.
