@@mokly4316dont think a clone of 2d would be the same him, since he has brain damage from several points in his life a clone would need to be raised with identical circumstances and encountering identical injuries before the resulting clone could properly emulate the damaged brain of 2d

The one thing that still puzzles me is that in the Stylo and On Melancholy Hill video cyborg noodle has a bullet hole in her head. But while on tour she doesn't have a bullet hole in her head. Then in Rhinestone Eyes she has one again in the same spot. Is that saying Stylo happened after the tour and she got shot while trying to escape the live band who are a part of the black clouds which is also why Stylo is shot full of holes. But Stylo was the first single they released so it wouldn't make sense. (maybe I'm over thinking a small detail)

Even though I didn't discover Gorillaz until 2017, I can say that it is my favorite phase, even more than Demon Dayz, the music, art, and lore is simply captivating, thank you for making this video!

Maybe murdoc made a deal with the boogieman for him to bring 2-D to plastic beach. That could be what the deal was. Thats why we see boogieman in the video

While the video is a great narration of events, it contains quite a significant misconception in regards to the events of Rhinestone Eyes: the attack on Plastic Beach after the World Tour and the release of The Fall was not the one shown on the storyboard film for RE, but a second one. The Battle of Rhinestone Eyes happened around very late November-very early October, before Mudz, 2D and CN went on to the ETPB tour (the shows before are not considered part of the tour itself). This was enough to damage the island significantly, but it wasn't what caused them to split up their ways. This was when Russel and Noodle met the other folks (and when all those pictures were taken). The 2 didn't go on the tour with the other 3 because 1. Neither of them knew the album and 2. Russel was still a giant (they technically played a part through, during the recording for the visuals for Broken). The one that caused them to split up and go on their separate ways was a different one, which happened on the 8th of April 2011 while Murdoc (along with) 2-D were broadcasting the fifth episode of Pirate Radio regarding the recent commercial release of The Fall.

I've been wrapping my head around this from the moment you commented, but I think this was changed and/or Jamie himself got confused. Like how every mention of how the band escaped PB has the band leaving after the Rhinestone Eyes attack (we are 10 radio show, "the book of.." series, etc.) Plus I think that the reveal of the live band being apart of the black cloud in the RE video would be at the end of the story along with everything about the boogieman and his downfall. So you have a climatic fight and that isn't what makes the band leave, it's another, lesser attack that isn't elaborated on more? It doesn't feel right. Although, this does make sense when looking at Noodle and Russel. How did they get those pictures of them on Plastic Beach if they were gone the whole time? Why was Noodle playing Broken live? Russel and Noodle don't know the material so it would make sense that they didn't go on tour. However, I just see this as a marketing/promotional thing. It would be weird to have a phase where there was no full band drawings or it was shown that Noodle didn't help make the music. Especially since this was supposed to be the last in the trilogy. Maybe the original plan was to work on the Rhinestone Eyes video during the tour, but when the budget was cut they decided to just release it, messing up the timeline. Either way, Plastic Beach's lore as a whole was a mess lol. It sucks we'll never get to see its full potential.

Yeah, I don't blame you - this whole story is extremely confusing. This second attack and the preparations that led to it were mostly tackled on the Plastic Beach web game, where you'd have to do a bunch of stuff to set up the broadcast of the fifth episode. The thing is though, for the events of The Book of Gorillaz to take place, the band would need an actual motivation to escape the island, and one that wouldn't require them to split up in a hurry. On the fifth episode of Pirate Radio, we can already hear the shooting taking place during the end of the transmission, while on Rhinestone Eyes the action only starts after Cyborg starts shooting the Boogieman on top of the studio before the rest of the pirates actually arrive, and by the end of the storyboard the situation seem to have already been put under control, at least temporarily. Those 4 books all seem to refer to (what I'll be referring to as) the Pirate Radio attack, as they never mention "The Battle of Rhinestone Eyes" by name; plus they also seem to have left it in a hurry, and 2D had not yet been eaten by Massive Dick during the storyboard. It's also worth mentioning that, in-universe, there are pictures of the real Noodle and the giant Russel on advertisement posters for the ETPB World Tour, so they had to have reached the island before the other three left on tour if those pics were to be taken, which further reinforces there having been two different attacks. But I agree with you though, the Rhinestone Eyes battle might have been intended to come out later but they had to readjust things after the production budget for the music video was cut, which would have understandably messed up some things.
