I think I love this version so much more than the original. For one, it's Little Simz who is awesome anyways; her verse and additions kind of empower the audience while Jehnny's version just kind of suggests that we find the power?? Idk
I really dont understand why people insult or call out Little Simz so much. I mean, I'm not gonna try to change your opinion if you hate her, but still. Can I atleast get a reason?
damn, this is a cool version too!!! my kids and i saw them in MN and i cried at this song when the entire place clapped in unison the entire song. It was amazing. Like a different dimension. We had the POWER.
When I first saw this performed live with little simz I absolutely hated it bc it wasn't the original with jenny beth and noel gallagher in it but after a few months of going back and listening to it it's grown on me. Same with Garage Palace I didn't like it when she first did it llive at the concert but after a while of listening to the studio version it also grew on me
Gorillaz came to SF twice so I was able to see 2 versions of We Got the Power with Little Simz here & with Jenny at Bill Graham. ... I prefer this version. Like a lot of y'all, when this song is performed live it just... isn't the damn same. For me, Little Simz injected way more life than Jenny droning on & on + awkwardly crowd-surfing.
I agree! I saw both as well and Little Simz live version at OSL was soooo much better!!! I was actually pretty disappointed with this song at Bill Graham. Little Simz created so much more energy in the crowd at OSL. When I got home from Bill Graham I watched this video:)
why wasn't this one on the album now i gotta wait till' someone leaks the b-sides from the super deluxe vinyl set before i can hear the studio version :(
Every live version of this song I see feels so... boring and slow? The recorded version is so vibrant and fast-paced and energetic and it's so exhaustingly bland when performed live.
NateIsLame i think it's because they go in crescendo and they don't use all the instruments at once. I don't like it that much either, but Little Simz did a great job with this
Wait what? I love the studio version of We got the power but I think the live version is even better. When the song picks up during the final chorus it feels so colorful and vibrant. All the synth pianos and rattling hi hats give off a lot of energy in my opinion
