Mom and dad had a reel to reel Sears tape recorder and every Sunday morning I would record Gospel Jubilee. We moved to Southern California from Louisiana in 1964 and I still recorded up until the time I got married in late 1964. I moved back to Louisiana and mom and dad and the recorder and all the tapes stayed in California. I remember asking mom years later if she still had all the tapes and told her the next time I visited I would like to get them. Mom died a couple months later and I never saw the tapes again and no one knew where they were. Unless they were destroyed someone has years and years and years of the Sunday Morning Gospel Jubilee.. God I wish I had them. It was years and years of Sunday mornings. You could hear mom in the background making breakfast and the rest of us getting ready for church which we were never late for. Oh what memories those tapes held.

in going through many of the songs and artists from back then, I find that the old stuff was geared more to praise and glorification of God and Christ, but as we moved forward, country got mixed in, country-gospel, rock-gospel, bluegrass-gospel and so many of those tunes are the foot-stomping make the flesh feel good and far away from the old reverence they used to do. signs of the times and so it is.

As a child I would go spend a few weeks every summer with my grandmother. She could only pick up a few t.v. stations but one of them had gospel music all day on Sundays. We'd go to Sunday school and church, come home to lunch and watch the programs. This was one of those programs. Now I can watch them again. Great memories. I miss you Grandmother.

Willy William's had a gospel show like this in KC called Southren Gospel Hour. I wish someone had these reals or tapes of them so they too could be uploaded to hear. It was these heart felt songs we need more of today. Not this watered down stuff they call gospel music. It was the saved souls that did the writing and truly saved sinners that delivered it.. If you can't feel God's spirit in this kinda singing you need your feeler gage checked!! This kinda singing can make ya cry and laugh at the same time😂 be thankful your names in the great book of life... lol thank you many times for putting this treasure up so others may hear and see Gods light shine.. if these songs burden you. And your heart desires what their singing about? Let your heart cry out to him he will hear your prayers. And lift you up and come in your heart to stay. Make you happy your names written.
