wait.. so monet mum send in a tip and later reallocated the teachers winter bonuses, so they had to do errants fr them to survive because they weren't doing enough to stop gossip girl and sending tips themselve. What I got from that is that the mom was enrolling her daughter into university and figured saying she was Latin x would help her get in/get scholarships since universities are trying to be more diverse and give out equal opportunities for all races/ethnicities

She probably fibbed about her racial identity so they could drum sympathy like in an essay a white person who hasn’t had any issues could be basic but a Latinx that’s had to overcome something would be good optics for her admission. The mother probably thought that when she did it for the Daughter and the daughter clearly wasn’t ok with that
