When you think about it....Jaime was all that kept the Lannisters together in a way. Cercei and Tywin hated Tyrion, Tyrion hated Tywin and Cercei in return, but they all loved Jaime.
The scene with Jaime and Tyrion will always bring a tear to my eye and the line that hits me the hardest "You were the only one who didn't treat me like a monster."
@@Dave_ja_vu That's not entirely accurate, but for the most part, well, Brienne encouraged some redeeming qualities in Jaime, while Cersei not so much, due to the fact that she cared about nobody but herself, and towards the end, only her not-born baby, Jaime and herself, and although she tried to deny it, also a little bit for Tyrion. She had multiple chances to kill him in the last seasons, but she didn't, because it was just as Jaime had said. All of her family was gone, only Tyrion, Jaime and her remained.

It wasn't ruined. Jaime changed but he couldn't let the person he was closest to die. Jaime isn't metioned in the prophecy (in the series at least, I know that there's a reference to it in the books)
Mostly of the people think that the Jaime of the last episode was not the Jaime that the writters sold us for 7 seasons... but for me he is, even if I love and ship braime, he is a lannister, and as you showed in your video, family is the only thing that matter, and yes, Jaime Lannister has honour, but also love her sister and would die for her, as he did. Brilliant edition, probably the best tribute to him.
The portrayal in my eyes in S8 wasnt bad...but it could have been a bit better to me. I feel they really could have done more with Jaime’s character when he found Cersei. Something poetic like actually him having no choice but to kill Cersei because she was about to do the craziest thing ever as her trump card. He would feel as Jon Snow felt when he killed Dany, and probably take his own life or still get squashed by the castle falling..idk. Also one thing that really annoyed me was when Tyrion told Jaime to atleast “do it for the people” only for Jaime to say “I never really cared much about the people”. That really hit a nerve considering this IS the kingslayer. The man who threw away his public honor to kill a madman in order to save hundreds of thousands of lives. It was obvious he felt compelled to do help the people rather than let them burn, but this scene in S8 really struck a nerve. However everything else concerning Jaime in S8 was spot on. I loved how he knighted Brienne (probably best scene in the season), how he fought in E3. The scene of him leaving brienne was done beautifully although I wish it was a bigger reason for him to leave “such as to stop Cersei” but yeah..im so glad his character wasn’t completely ruined, although he was ruined a bit. Oh and the Cersei Prophecy thing was just so so so so lame and subtle in the actual episode. Like I said, he should have been the one having to kill her to stop a reckless plan, and him regretting everything, which still would fulfill the prophecy poetically, but ya know...D&D @____@ bleh.

If she wanted to do something "evil" she could've lit King's Landing up like a Christmas Tree with the many bushels of Wildfire kept beneath the city. I don't know how her arc will end in the books but she was never going to be the ultimate tyrant, that was Daenerys.
My opinion on Jaimes character arc.... A lot of people hate on this season and I get why.. the writing is questionable to say the least. But Jaimes arc came full circle. He was ALWAYS conflicted between what Honor is and who to be loyal to, and what was right, but what he never questioned was his love for Cersei and his family. He was a hateful man because of how hated he was for doing the right thing (killing the mad king), and we see Jaime struggle constantly with right from wrong because the line is blurred because of blind “loyalty” and “oaths” and “Honor”. That’s what the whole “f*ck loyalty” arc was about.. In the very first episode he said “the things I do for love” and later in the show we realize he would do anything for Cersei no matter what. Jaime left Cersei because when Cersei lost all her children she pushed Jaime away in her anger... and then Brienne showed him love. After being with Brienne he realized he did not love her the same because it’s always been Cersei. He said “We don’t choose who we love,” and these scenes were in fact written by GRR Martin himself, so it’s no accident that throughout the show he was always fighting to go back to Cersei because that is where he’d always end up. It wouldnt have made sense if he swore a blind oath to Danaerys, the daughter of the mad king. He saw what she was capable of with her dragons. In my opinion it would have ruined his character if he DID stay with Brienne.. it would have truly gone against his whole arc. Cersei and Jaime both died poetically. They came into this world together and they left this world together.
Jaime came back to Cersei because of love. Not to fight on her behalf, not to slay the good people but to save her and his unborn child. In the process he rang the bell to signal that the war was over (echoing the last time he saved millions--except this time it didn't happen but he did it anyway), he re-united with the woman he loved and the woman who was carrying his unborn child. He died in the arms of the woman he loved and he did everything to be with her when she died. If that's not a PERFECT character arc, I don't know what is. Jaime died the only way Jaime was ever going to die: for love and with the woman he loved. There are many many things wrong with this season (Arya killing the Night King, Danaerys going full-heel in 5 minutes etc) but this wasn't one of them.
Although I hated Jaimes ending and I dont agree with the decisions D&D made. Jaime Lannister is my favorite character in all of fiction and this video did a really good job in helping me remember that. He was a man of honor and he taught us all how important family really is. Thank you Nikolai for delivering what I think was one of the best performances in the whole series. Rest in peace Jamie Lannister, A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms. I guess they did it right, whatever he did was for his family and he always wanted to die with Cersie. I am fully satisfied with his ending, but they died like a fool though 😂😂😂

You Know Who I Am you’re right that they had poor character development for some characters like Dabaerys’ fall into madness seemed forced like Anakins in Revenge of the Sith. But I feel Jaime has been working up to this the whole show. See my other comment, it’s got some good points
A story that’s truly bittersweet. Jaime did the right thing but had to live with his consequence for the rest of his life .Ned did the wrong thing lied to everybody & everybody else had to live with the consequences.
That's love. Toxic unconditional love. Just like Jaime would've done anything to save Tyrion and he did in season four. He loves his family, so he would always try to save them.
Lewis Handley They ruined his character arc. He was pretty clearly leaving Cersei behind him at the end of Season 7 and Cersei send Bronn to kill him if he survived The Long Night, he knew all that, just DOESN’T make ANY sense that he went back to Cersei and they ruined the arc that was building up for a long time. Jaime deserved a better ending than that. That’s why people are criticising them
His arc is not wasted, it just has a tragic element. He died a better man in the arms of the woman he loved while unable to prevent the Mad Queen from burning them all.
Actually no. The women who basically ruined much of his life he came running back to and basically the last 7 seasons were wasted. He should have stayed in Winterfelll with Brienne or killed Cersei. He didnt grow at all. Its sucks because Jaime was my favorite character on the show next to the Hound.
People understand that someone going from "really bad" to "really good" is not the only roadmap for a great character arc, right? It's a hell of a lot more complex than that.
This is kind of what game of thrones is about, you don’t get what you deserve, you get what you were meant to get. Cersei being a horrible person throughout the series still gets to die in the arms of his brother, she still gets her final moments of peace despite the chaos she has made. Jaime despite having one of the greatest character arcs ever, still goes back to where he was at in the beginning and dies with the woman he loved for the entirety of his life. Such is game of thrones, you don’t always get an ending with a bang. Sometimes it’s just a simple death, and that’s the beauty of it.
You all can't see, what has been layed before your eyes, for so long, from character to character and from the man himself. Jaime loves his family, it is the pillar on which he grew up, he defended Tyrion as they grew up, he killed a king to save his father, he pushed a boy to save his sister, he fought Ned, to protect his kids, he fought and stood alive to get back to his love, he defended his brother in front of his father over the death of his son, he went on to save his daughter and last son, the most precious thing he gave to Cercei, he rode north, not to save the world, but to honor his friends, to help his brother and inevitably to defend the one purpose he pursue from the beginning, love. He stated from the very first episode "The things I do for love" and untill the last one "We are the only ones, the only ones that matter". Even Bran saw it, the destiny of a man in the pursue of his heart and soul, something that goes beyond any vow or obstacle, something that he would preserve over anything; "The things we do for love". This is who Jaimie is, not some over-honorable man, or overly-kind one, he is more human by his nature than any poorly written character, some fans claim him to be, he is a good man, he help his friends, he fights with honor, he lives by a code, but in the end, he values one sacred thing over anything else, and that is the woman he loves, the mother of his childrens and the passion in his life. May he rest in peace, true to his words: "In the arms of the woman that I love".
I was originally upset with how things ended for him but this edit really puts it into perspective. Tyrion said that it was Jaime who accepted him no matter what, and it was also Jaime who saw the "monster" in Cersei and loved her anyway. That's why we like and respond to him. His redemption wouldn't have been living out his days with a big fat glorious label of "honourable" slapped on him. He killed and betrayed and fought for Cersei, and at the same time he was always helping Tyrion escape and so on. We've always thought he was good when he was protecting Tyrion and evil when he was protecting Cersei and her interests. If we htink about it, from a complete outsider's point of view both sets of actions are selfish and backward but the real common denominator is exactly as above, family. It's not a coincidence in the last episode that Tyrion tells him to escape like Jaime had tried to do for him, and how he eventually had to flee. Even after all that, Tyrion has ended up back at Kings Landing anyway and he's now prepared to face any punishment Daenerys sets on him. This is the same with Jaime, he's come full circle- he's facing his crimes. We might ask why he's protecting Cersei at a moment like this. But that's just it. He has always seen the bad in her, and he has a tumultuous relationship with that. Way back when, people expected him to go on protecting Aerys even when he was going mad, but now that he's protecting Cersei we think he's mad. But it's the same on paper- he's keeping his promise to protect and love someone no matter what they've done. He's done it at the "wrong" moment in history, and people can only know him as a traitor twice, but this just questions what being a knight really means. And that's what Jaime Lannister has always been about.We want him to kill Cersei or whatever but that's because we want him to be the songs-and-tales good knight. It's because he was on the way to becoming one. But how it's ended with him now is Jaime as an actual "good" knight, that is, someone who continuously makes choices based on loyalty. Just as how they showed us with Ned Stark that it can be stupid. They showed us with Brienne it can be good but complicated- she was accused of killing Renly, she was seen for being a Lannister sympathiser, etc etc. But now they've showed us with Jaime that it's rarely ever simple. The ways they wrote his scenes with Cersei were fine. But I think the crux of the misunderstanding is when he said he never cared about the people in Kings Landing anyway. I think that should have been a bigger moment so that all of this about Jaime really came to light for the audience, that the key in that moment was that he would never kill Tywin no matter what. He died completely on his own terms and of his own choices. RIP.
What magnificent work! Whatever my feelings about the latest season, you've done an amazing job showing all of Jaime's best moments. You have a terrific command of music and editing that makes every emotional beat hit like a truck. Well done!
Eight so far has been very thought provoking in the sense of seeing each character’s true feelings come out when they realize they’re nearing the end. I think it’s all coming together beautifully, and I fully understand Jaime’s decision. It felt true to his character. He’s always been driven by justice and what’s right, he’s always had his conscience, he just doesn’t always use it because he’s also always been driven by his family as well no matter if their decisions are rational and right like Tyrion or selfish like Cercei, so he’s had a sort of inner battle I believe.
Nikolaj Coster is an amazing actor, he Owns the role and that's what makes him a great actor,him and Lena Headey & Peter Dinklage performances is what makes the show what it is.
Please make a video about Euron, he deserves a tribute. He was a man with a plan and never worried too much about things and he lived and died as he allways wanted - having fun. I love his character. Great video btw
Euron is a excelent characther for a role that he plays on the series, is a shame the fact that most people didn't like him just because he is a better characther in the books
bruno tobias I have not read the books and thats my fault, but the way he is portrayed in the show hes just a prick with no character developement. Take Ramsey Bolton for an answer, his character was cruel but awesome.

I just what the newest epiosde, loved it. I cried a lot of times, but my heart broke when Jaime died, I hated him when I first startet whatching got, but slightly I began to like him more and more until he became one of of my six favorite characters. Kaiser Shaik that’s not good writing. Subversion for subversion sake is bad and pointless. As someone who’s never read the books the twists of the Red wedding, Joffreys wedding and Ned were amazing. This was such a well edited video and you really captured my feelings about this season. We watched this man grow and change... from the most hated character on the show, we watched as he developed and embraced who he really was - a man with honour - and became a fan favourite. We watched his struggles - both internal and external, we watched him realise his priorities, watched him see that dark side of Cersei and realise he wanted no part of it. And then... that ending. It broke my heart to see them treat Jaime that way. His decisions from mid way through 8x04 onwards made absolutely no sense and completely invalidated all his personal growth and tainted his honourable scenes from before. I can't believe they threw away all his development just like that. But this video was absolutely beautifully done and really highlights Nikolaj's amazing acting. Kudos to you!

Aw, this was beautiful, I've been so upset about the utter destruction of Jamie's arc, thanks for making such a thoughtful and well-done edit in his honor.
I AM SO NOt OKAY HOW THEY ENDED THIS. But this video is sooo amazing. I love every part of it. He is my fav as well, I loved his journey... till like... half of episode 8x04. I wanted him to stop Cersei, not die in her arms.
He did stop her, he kept her eyes focused on him when she was looking off in the distance for an escape route (which there was) he went back to ensure Cersei didn't make it out alive because she would surely kill Brienne so when Jaimie is telling Brienne all the things he told her before he left I believe he was telling her those things to make himself appear past the point of no return or changing his mind and half believed what he was saying to a degree. But ultimately he ended it all to protect Brienne and to end it all since he and Cersei lost their children and thus really have nothing left to live for. I am still not ok with how they ended it.
I want to say that this is by far THE BEST GOT character tribute clips that I have seen. And the dramatic music in the first half of the clip? Not sure if it was intentional but I love how that name of that music piece was called “The Untold” by Secession Studios - just like how Jamie told Brienne why he killed the Mad King.
In season 8, Jaime made choices for the good of his family, as family was the most important thing to his father, who he always admired. He returned to kings landing, after completing what he had given his word to do, and came back to fulfill his oath as kings guard and to attempt to save his family, and his unborn child. He sacrificed his life for a chance of his family surviving, if that's not noble then idk what is
Helped save the kingdom twice. He loved his family and protected them even protecting them from each other, the scenes with Tyrion are acting gold, gunna miss this.
In the end, Jaime was basically the only hero. He was reviled and hated as the Kingslayer, and instead of trying to defend himself, he bore it--never telling anyone why, and how he was trying to save thousands of lives. Jon led forces and played a key role in mass slaughter. Sansa just wanted to secure her power in the north. Daenerys was power hungry and bloodthirsty. Arya just wanted revenge. And in the end, Jaime saw happen the nightmare he had fought to prevent.
Time and time again you prove to be the best at editing to pull those moments that we remember the most and that matter the most into one seamless beautiful character eulogy that truly matters this is one of your best works and I hope you will make many more rest in piece kingslayer last of your kind loyal to a fault bearer of a thousand sins but cursed to have a decent heart throughout it may you finally be at peace and be forgiven for you lived as a kingslayer and an oathbreaker but you died as the one and only........Jaime Lannister
Someone with a fucking brain. THANK YOU. Some people are like "awe he died with his sister how sweet" and I'm like...no, that's fucking GROSS. Cersei literally wanted Jaime killed multiple times. She made him do horrible things throughout their lives and obviously didn't love him like he loved her since she was always fucking other random dudes.
jaime’s redemption was him leaving to ride north and fight for the living. he always loved cersei and he was always going to die with her. he loved her too much to let her, and his baby, die alone. he redeemed himself by fighting with daenerys but he couldn’t bear to leave the one woman he had always loved. it’s poetic justice and tragedy.

Regardless of what we think about Jaime's actions and what he said about himself or what the others said about him... He was loved by two characters that had a heart of gold, Tyrion and Brienne. I think that tells us everything we need to know about him.
