I would definitely change the tires for driving in that. Dean Wintercat SST. Also, use limited slip if you have it as opposed to the lockers, to avoid the crab walking that's pulling you into the banks so much.
Lots of good times by all. Many lessons learned opportunities. Dedicated snow make a big difference. But are not always practical for a weekend get away. Also might consider a tire with less width and more height. Snow chains would be the best option in this particular situation. But I understand that this was just a day trip kind of thing. One other area for consideration, I always recommend using a snatch box whenever possible. It really does reduce the strain on the winch, (less heat build up, and easier on the battery and alternator) and gives you added strength with more of the rope off the winch drum. And it allows you to change the angle of the pull to get unstuck easier. All of the equipment combined adds up to some serious amount of money, so I advocate for techniques that can help prolong the life of it. Really a fun video. You said early in the video you were hoping for some snow. You certainly got your wish. Good to see family and friends having some fun and making memories. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Hey Casey we just built a 2021 JLUR diesel for a buddy of mine, bumpers, winch, fender chop kit, 2" lift 39s and beadlocks, it goes really good even in high moisture content pnw snow. It looked like in the video you guys might be running a little higher air pressure than we all do though, we usually run 1.5-3lbs and like to crawl rather than right foot rippin.
I love this video, not only is it great watching your Jeeps do their thing. But just as great is seeing the joy you're daughter has being with Daddy and having good family fun in the snow brought to you by Jeep. GOD bless you and yours and always have fun and safe Jeep adventures. 😎❄⛄
Caught you on Epic Fam channel. Great content and call me hooked. Come to Texas but leave you chain saw at home no trees an axe can’t handle out west. You have me hooked. Great job
You guys are love and specially @casey250 u r so funny guy and respected person Sir!! i love the video when u and shaun are together with dirt garage guy. You 3 guys make my day and i almost watched your all videos. Cant explain how i love you guys. Stay blessed always. God saves you from every bad deeds. Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️💖👍👌
I got feeling I will find myself in a few nasty situations in the very near future. I just picked up a Jeep TJ and can't believe how much I am falling in love with it already and can't wait to start with the customization and build. If you're interested in having a look pop by my channel I did just post a video the other day about it
Wow, it's a beautiful video again. It's thrilling to see your car run on a snowy road. It's the best moment to pull a vehicle out of the snow. I'm glad to be a friend of your great channel. Always stay healthy. 👍👍👍🤝🤝🤝🤙🤙👌
excellent well-oriented video, really that the Jeep Wrangler Rubicón, like the gladiator are excellent vehicles for any terrain, and I also congratulate you all are excellent drivers, greetings from Cartagena Colombia
Casey that was actually awesome, +hours to get to a spot so she can have X+minutes of fun will be memories for live, and isn't that what being a dad is all about !!! Well done brother ... well done
excelente video bien orientado, de verdad que los Jeep Wrangler Rubicón, al igual que las gladiator son excelentes vehículos para cualquier terreno, y también los felicito a todos son excelentes conductores, saludos desde Cartagena Colombia
Great seeing your daughter with you and playing the snow!! But, um... a snowball maker?!? [uses best oooold man voice] back when I was a boy, we made snowballs with our hands... :-)
Wet snow and raining equals icy slushy mess which in turn makes for some tough going. I was hoping to see if it was any better making fresh tracks ...but then again to much water in the snow and one tire slip your done. BTW The Freedom recovery rope works awesome for popping out stuck things out of the snow. My go too vs pulling winch
Where is this at it is absolutely Beautiful . We don’t get snow that deep where I live in West Virginia . It sure looks like fun tho. Thanks for sharing .
snow?!?! nice, man...and so jelly. all I have ever really been blessed with bounced between (and was limited to) the spectrums of dry dirt and knobby negating ga red clay. it snowed real good once tho. also,...came to see use of gear...left inspired. thx.
Looks like fun. Was curious if you could have a time elapsed counter in the corner of the screen, showing how long you were from stuck to extracted. I know it took more than 30 seconds. Such wet heavy snow!
Total trip was about 5hrs. I did arrange the sequence of the day a little different to make the video as entertaining as I could, and ending it with sledding
Hey there. My wife and just bought a 2020 JLU Rubi with the diesel back in October. We added the Tazer Mini. That thing is awesome. Gonna install the front cam next weekend. What rear bumper are you running on yours? I want to get our spare tire off the door.
Can you do a video about the soft top, pros and cons. Really curious how you like it especially living in a colder climate and how it's held up. And if you could go back would you have ordered the sky one touch power top, hard top, or stick with the soft top. Really considering get a soft top for my JL.
Your daughter has a nice arm and aim. I'm sure she loved every minute of that adventure. After the 3rd time getting stuck it should have been time for a full on snowball fight!
Beautiful area! I love snow. I've always wondered, would carrying 4 sets of tire chains help in a situation like this? Would there be enough clearance as long as you didn't expect too much articulation?
chains are OK for blacktop, but offroad, they usually make a bad situation worse. Air down (my rule of thumb is wheel size = maximum lowest tire pressure, without beadlocks.. ie: 17" = 17 psi), having a winch and a Come-along as well as traction boards
What happens if all three vehicles in the convoy end up getting snowed in on a mountain road, dozens of kilometers away from help? Serious question, how do you prepare for that unlikely but very possible scenario? A winch cable breaks, or you're stuck with snow piling up from a storm that suddenly got far worse than it was supposed to?
Depends where we are. We arent that far from main roads here and this is very accessible if we need to call in help. I keep a Spot Sattelite communicator in my Jeep if we need help and are off the grid. Usually only one vehicle is pushing new ground and the others can recover. Synthetic winch line can be repaired and I carry a spare line. If we were further away from civilization id take less risks or bring more rigs. Play within your skill sets and knowledge of terrain and situations and learn how to use all the recovery equipment available and bring it! Always keep food and blankets and other essentials in your rig and always be ready to spend a night in the bush.
@@Casey250 All excellent tips. Not knowing the area personally it's hard for a viewer to know how far away from blacktop you are. Could this perhaps be a an idea for a future video--how to plan for a worst-case scenario on a wheeling trip into the middle of nowhere, BC style? Obviously you and your crew are well seasoned and your rigs are extremely well equipped but I'm thinking more for the less-savvy people or those with stock Jeeps who end up over their heads because they don't understand the risks.
@@Casey250 I kind of have a hankering into going out in the Envoy, and seeing if I can find some of that White crap though.. BUT not as deep as you found, and not up at the "ski resort"
Casey please put on your 4 way hazrd lights when you are stuck with 44" tires in 6" of snow. We need you to be Canadian safe.. don't forget your helmet too.
Does anyone run thinner tires in the snow. I could tell the factory 33s on my gf's JLR are to big for the snow. Trying to find 17x7 steels in 5x5... Anyone?
I'm running 255/75R17 yokohama geolandar G003's right now while my goodyear ultragrip snowtires get studded. I'm ten miles from Canada in northern NYS and this week I'll be headed into camp to cut trees. I got about 3 miles of camp road with snow a foot deep right now. Usually m/t tires don't do as well in the snow, wrong tread pattern and no siping. But I'll let you know later in the week how it went.
Do you have any Engine lights turn on when using your winch? Which engine? I have a 2019 turbo with E torque and every time I run my winch I get a engine code... related to amp draw. They always so clear after a while but just curious.
My winch is connected directly to the battery. I wonder if the 2 battery are causing his errors? Because I am using the connection leads. Looks something like.. www.wranglerforum.com/threads/connecting-my-winch-to-the-battery.1846209/#lg=thread-1846209&slide=0 The winch i am using is a ZEON 10-s PLATINUM WINCH
Id be wondering if your alternator and battery are ok. I don't have good luck with cheap or oem batteries. A good agm battery with high amps might help you out. 2 years of offroading a battery can deplete its capacity. I bought a cheap battery from costco once because i needed in asap and killed it in 2 runs off road. My Northstar agm in the JK has held up for 2 years of abuse but my previous agm lasted only 3. I plan to put a northstar agm in the JL at some point.
@@Casey250 I’m on my 3rd OEM battery. Last time I looked for a AGM.. they didn’t have one listed for JL turbo with e torque. One other interesting thing is m6 Jeep does not have a alternator. Because of the 48 V system it has a generator. Hoping to find someone else with same setup and see if the have a similar issue. I’ll check into AMG again. Thanks Jason
@@Casey250 I don't know much about the diesel engines in the new jeep, but in my truck low is always better in sloppy mud or really wet snow. I don't have lockers so I don't know anything about them other then what I've seen here on RU-vid.
Dude, a 1983 Subaru with cable chains could do better. OMG! I just bought a 2021 Rubicon and now I’m wondering why... Now, your kids have sliding down pat! Great vid.
It depends on the depth... if you can dig to solid ground without high centering, yes you're right. In his case, there is no way he can do that so flotation is key which means airing down and widest/longest patch is best.
