Got Scammed in Gulmarg | Must Watch | Kashmir Travel | Latest Video 

Gulmarg is a paradise for thieves. Taxi Driver may tell you that he cannot take you beyond Tangmarg and you have to take a local taxi. He will get a cut from the local taxi that he will arrange for you. separate taxi from tangmarg is needed only in the snow season. Make it clear while hiring the cab that he has to take you to Gulmarg proper and specifically to the Gandola station. Two kilometers from the Gandola station, the pony riders and local cab drivers will stop your taxi and say that you can proceed only on pony or local cab. This is false and stopping the cab is illegal. However, long distance cab drivers are scared of them and may ask you to get down. Resist this as much as you can and take your taxi to the Gandola station. Complain to any police officer at the site. Pony riders will demand Rs 2000-2500 for a ride not worth more than Rs 500. Cab drivers will demand the same or Rs 500 per person. Pay no more than Rs 50-100 per person. You can walk the distance if you wish. Always book the Gandola online in advance. Alternatively, book at the ticket counter only. Bluntly refuse services of guides who will flock to you. Avoid touts who will offer to make you jump the queue for a high fee. Sledge riders will demand Rs 1600 for a ride not worth more than Rs 300. They also offer skiing for exorbitant prices. Refuse any package deal for activities.

Thanks for this video. I went to Kashmir last week and the first attraction is “Greed”, second is “Tourist scams” and last is beauty of nature. Forced tipping is so rampant, it looks like looting without gun is going on. There is no value of 100 rupees in Kashmir, its like 50 paise in rest of india. Now, i am never going back to Kashmir and will advise people to go to Himachal or Sikkim.

I was planning to visit kashmir in jan 2024 but after seing the scams/frauds in many vlog, i have drooped the plan and most probably will go to NE.

There are many other options Himachal Uttarakhand . Please to Don’t waste your money on people who don’t respect their guset ( tourist ). They treat them like ( loot sako to loot lo ) and mis behave with tourist avoid these places to sell your respect . Then they realize the value of tourist. Choose always places who believe in ( अतिथि देवों भव ) that will be the real heaven and the place to enjoy.

They will ask 3000,5000 for pony ride persom to perso, Either in pahalgam or sonmarg. But stick to ur price 400,500 max. Sledge they ask 1500 to 2000 but dont take it more then 300. Keep ur bid to the lowest and stivk to it n record thr conversation while finalising the price.

Yes, lot of scammed going on in gulmarg We also pay 5000 for skiing and sledge.

No doubt they charge hefty but if you have a good bargaining skills you can survive there. I never paid more then 500 to 600 to any pony rider in pagalgam and sonmarg. Sledge I took just to experience for 200. U cant judge what you have ti qoute and bargain bec they already qoute 10 times of actual orice.

You actually don't need a guide for a gondola ride. Crowd & time to grab gondola ticket is very small or none. They are just making fool and spoiling reputation of Kashmir.
