Great shop video as always enjoy them. They're very educational. It very well shows how you respect your equipment and maintain it. Keep the action coming. Definitely catchya at the next one. Be safe!!
Great video Andy!!! I love the shop video content almost as much as the field work videos!!! Maybe you can demo a tractor next year with the new engine you were talking about. Thanks!!
As always, an interesting and educational experience. Real nice break from all the debauchery going on in the hen house down in D.C. Thank you, and all the best to everyone Andy
Glad you're ripping that stump out so it won't cost you any more money down the road! Bad enough you have to buy 66 qts of oil for it! lol Way to go Jered! Pallet jack worked pretty slick for that tire swap! Thanks Andy, for another insightful video!
My cousin told me one time when we where running his trucks back and forth from the field to the farm that illegal isn't anything but a sick bird. Lol anyway another great video Andy keep up the good work and stay safe out there. See ya on the next one sir.
God I love watching you work on shit. So professional, no monkeying around, just getting stuff done. and you’re so good at everything, you really do an awesome job dude I mean it. The look on Sarah‘s face pumping that DEF lol.. I just bought an exhaust fluid pump from the northern tool catalog it was like 300 bucks maybe a little more, but it comes with everything you need and then I just made an adapter to thread into the bung on the barrel. I got irritated watching the guys mess around with filling up jugs or messing around pumping it milking it for all it was worth usually on overtime. Now they can pull up to the shop throw the nozzle in the truck fill it up and get the hell out of there. Awesome video Andy nice early one today. Take it easy
That cutter head is one mean piece of engineering. Thanks for the chopper insight, very educational. I think this is my favourite of your machines. Your dad shouldn't have left that stump where he did. He joins Tim in the sin bin, not you. Thanks again.
If you keep the maintenance up on any piece of equipment you can run them for a long time. Don't always need the new stuff that still needs the normal wear parts replaced anyhow, and the older stuff doesn't have a payment to go with them either. Thank you for todays video always informative.
Yup that’s the truth. Most of the newer trucks have filters now before the pump thankfully. But yeah every time I get a doser malfunction code or a pump low pressure code that’s the first place I’m going is all the white crystal shit piled up on everything
Hi Andy great video again. I see John Deere are using the new 18l in the 9600 and 9500 choppers. Just released. At around 800hp for the 96. The x9 are running the new 13.6l. I hope that is of interest too you. Gavin.
Be cool to see a video this winter on what goes into your tree management. Does your father just go at it all Willy nilly like or is there a method in your tree management. What kind of equipment do you throw at it?
Classic for me is definitely the case ih 956/1056 of which I drove both but my first was a 1694 case hydroshift and I loved it I won’t list them all 👍🏻
Andy do you ever look down inside of that davco fuel water separator? I have a davco on my 2021 Peterbilt and about every other filter change I drain out the bottom of the housing and take a rag on a screwdriver to wipe out some algae and dirt, just some food for thought.
Something else I found a bit strange was the way Deere had mounted the fuel filter bowl upside down. I may be wrong but most bowls are on the bottom so you can see water in the fuel and drain it off. Also allows you to drain the bowl to change the filter without making a big mess.
I’ve been reading about that 18 liter John Deere. It’s starting in their choppers first. No DEF is the way to go. I like NAPA filters too. Made by Wix. I see you use Fleetguard fuel filters. Those are awesome.
It's not considered a crime to run without plates unless they Catch you Andy 😁. I know here in Ontario you just slap a slow moving vehicle sign on and don't drive over 50km your good to go still. As long as it's farm purpose that is.
I never left a stump, that didn't end up costing me money. It is something like a hang rock in the middle of a field, you invariably forget exactly where it is.
Fuel filters are finiky... have had bad filters too. For any reason if they leak, or cracked, or fuel system doesn't stay primed it's the first thing to change.
How many hours do you think you'll run 8700? We'll have 4000 on our 7480 after corn an are going to trade next year. No complaints its been a great chopper for us, just under sized now
Andy you probably should really checkout a nice tire lift tool. They resemble a pallet jack but have a nice backstop to keep them upright. As you know them damn tires get away from you and break bones and such. Local tire guy here just lost a lifelong employee over it. Bad deal. Dont normally like to offer much advice
@@FarmingFixingFabricating you could probably fab up a quick backstop and a ratchet strap on an old pallet jack in 20 minutes. You all are probably handling duals a couple times a month in your operation. I know you normally use your forklift Thanks for posting Andy. Always a pleasure to watch
Does that chopper have that famous deere internal water pump? If so I would change it soon ,it's a lot easier to spend $800 for a water pump or if it falls its around $40000 to replace the engine.
Outlaws Sarah and Alex! Making honest women out them, eh Andy? I can see the 2 of them wearing cowboy hats and bandanas pulled up over their faces. With Covid around, who knows if they are outlaws or safety conscious. That's funny that you had your best experience ever at motor vehicle dept. That's the secret--timing. If you spend too much time in meetings, always schedule them for 11 AM or 4 PM. Guaranteed to last only an hour. Good video Andy.
Have trouble with your JD kernel processor bearings getting hot? Neighbors farm having trouble and after quitting for the day it started a fire in the middle of the night. Both new JD choppers and a silage truck parked together burned up. Million dollars in equipment burnt. Lucky it wasn’t in the shop.
