Theory time. So obviously, "swear not by the moon" is a Romeo and Juliet quote. And you see the balcony, the bottle of poison, the whole Renaissance feel are throwbacks to that play. But here's the kicker: they are not living the love story, they are playing it. The tent at the beginning, the collapsing amphitheatre - they are sets. And it becomes most visible in the end (my wife pointed this out), when they are on the cart in street clothes, reading the play as a travelling acting troupe - to quote Shakespeare once more, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women, merely players"

Personally this is one of their best title tracks. It feels like the most them along with eclipse maybe. I just can hear and feel JB all over this song. And Jackson’s vocals were a blessing. I love how he didn’t rap but got the prechorus which is an important part of the song and he can show why he’s a triple threat 💚

‪What I like best about NBTM is this song, out of all their title tracks, has showcased each member’s vocal & rap power. I’ve always wanted JB to belt high notes that’s similar with the one he did in Love Loop. Youngjae adlibs & him leading the chorus; not pre-chorus or extended chorus but the main chorus. Yugyeom bridge. More Jinyoung falsetto. Jackson singing (!!!) & Bambam’s soft rap. Last but not the least, a rap part that perfectly fits Mark’s rap style.‬ ‪With this comeback, I’m hoping that nonfans will gain a whole new appreciation of GOT7. On top of this, the MV is great too!!!

Actually "You Calling My Name" was only the second best song of 2019. It was narrowly beat out by "Focus on Me" by Jus2. Jaebeom and Yugyeom are just those dudes. 😁 For real though... They were so charming 🥰 the album itself brings a dark dramatic elegant style to it, which reminds me of their I Won’t Let You Go & Eclipse era with Jackson recent comeback “100Ways”. If you know those albums and song then you’ll know what ai mean. Their title track “Not By The Moon” for this comeback is such a melody to my ears and I cant help notice the symbolism they used from some of their previous albums adding to their storyline with a classy novel concept and powerful vocals along with sharp rapping from the rapline. Youngjae, Jinyoung & JB hitting those high notes and don’t even get me started on their fits 👀🙀 *After reviewing a few times reminds me of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet story about lovers who kills themselves over love; where Juilet didn’t want him to go to have love to last forever but Romeo ends up dead by poison and Juliet kills herself because she doesn’t want to live without Romeo. There’s constant phases like ‘O Swear Not By The Moon‘ that reference Juliet telling her lover Romeo not to make a promise by the moon since it always changes, poison bottle that was used to kill Romeo and the row of coffin then at the end they’re riding off inside a western carriage.* My biases JB, Jackson, Ji

As others have pointed out, this is filled with references to Romeo and Juliet, but imagining a different ending. I like the theory that the tent and wagon represent that this is a production, that relationship drama is A Drama we’re all acting in. I really love how the moon imagery is constantly shifting to visually back up the quote they’re using. Even the hand sign is two crescents moving toward full. The Aghase bird shattering the full moon in the Temple setting... *chef’s kiss* I imagine that the shirts vs skins scene around Jackson’s throne is the two warring families from the play. If we wanna get really nerdy, the only member of royalty in the play is the Prince of Verona who stands outside the conflict and actually is the one to banish Romeo after he kills Juliet’s cousin. Jackson saying “no more drama??” 😂 But yeah, the bottle is most likely supposed to be poison. Or dye :P Tbh, the title makes me laugh cuz, y’know, idols
