One of the "goth" guys at my high school was one of the most amazing, smartest & creative people I've ever met. When he'd hear others being bullied, he'd intervene. When he saw you were having a bad day, he'd joke around to lift your spirits. Unfortunately, he passed away in a car accident sometime after graduation. RIP Shaun

I'm sorry but this was messed up in so many ways. 1. The father allowing her to disrespect his daughter is beyond crazy to me. 2. Judging and disrespecting her before even getting to know her. The message here is judge whoever you want but only feel sorry for them if they have some sort of horrible or depressing backstory. SMH. As an gothic teen i relate very much, i got bullied for a while and i couldn't stand it so i told to my family and the principal and thank god that the principal and teachers are so sweet and that stuff so i don't get bullied anymore bc they all know if they say something i will just tell the teachers and then they take care of it. Even if Ruby wasn't a good student and was into drugs, it wouldn't have justified the mother's treatment of her. Everyone is inherently deserving of respect, and I feel that having the mom only realize that she was wrong because Ruby was the complete opposite of her expectations takes away from the message the video is trying to get across.

Honestly I think Ruby is gorgeous as is, even with all of her tattoos and piercings. When she was crying at 14:14 I couldn’t help but get emotional as well. The valedictorian for the class of 1996 was “goth”. She even skipped a grade in elementary school. She was one of the smartest and sweetest girls I knew. She even attended church. Some like to wear pink flowers others prefer to wear black and chokers. Character is what’s important not clothing.

I am glad the mom realized she made a mistake judging Ruby before getting to know her. I liked how Ruby stood up for Harley when Isabelle was bullying her. Brooke and Claire aren’t real friends by abandoning her. Ruby should stay with Harley so Isabelle will leave her alone

The stepmother is a bad mother for being so abusive, and the father is a bad father for not standing up for his daughter from the very beginning. He should have kicked the stepmother out early on, or left with his daughter. He definitely chose the stepmother over his own daughter, and that would be emotionally devastating for the daughter, regardless of the end outcome shown here. A woman as toxic as the stepmother does not change, at least nowhere near that quickly, and someone like that typically doesn't give a damn if they turned out to be wrong.

Bro I wore nail polish to school one day because my friend who’s a girl was having a bad day the day before, I walk into class and these two douchebags are sitting there laughing to themselves like they think I’m blind and deaf. I tell them they’re being pricks and they call me goth as an insult, like bro just because I’m wearing black nail polish doesn’t make me goth, and what’s wrong with being goth. My best friend is a Goth and I adore her so damn much. She is one of my favorite people. So it really upsets me when people misjudge people who like the gothic style. Let me tell you I’ve been around goth and they’re actually really great people to be around, just because they have a different way of showing off their clothes and their personality doesn’t make them a bad person. It’s like when you have a friend who just wore all black for one day, you’re not going to assume right away that they’re on drugs or part of some gang.
