I know right! I got pictures for my application taken a few days ago and dressed up as a normal person, but I still looked like a goth 😂 I tried so hard but my eyebrows were still too high and too curvy. 🙄

I dunno I like to wear a lot of different styles. I don't have one I just pick whatever I see, wherever I see it, I like. Doc martens with motorcycle boots, or a maxi dress with big ass flowers, or leather leggings and a black cut out dress, skinny jeans and a cable knit w/ high boots. I like her and watch her on occasion, she's funny and I enjoy all types of make up. I think it's great that she found what she likes. And I get that some of the nastiness is because people can be cruel to her about her outfits which is stupid, however, I wear a lot of that stuff and I'm not a vapid PSL obsessed robot. I'm a well educated, thoughtful, kind, . . . basic ish bitch. I get looking at something and saying "I would NEVER." I don't appreciate the venom, and the edge of nastiness. I think she looks great all the time, and I'd never dress like her. I look great and she'd never dress like me. We're all judgey but straight up nastiness seems unneeded. Like I said, I get being like that when everyone probably does the same to you, but I wouldn't and I look like your basic bitch . . . in general.

Kylie it was for fun. I dress up nicely on occasion and I’m uncomfortable in it and poke fun at acting “dainty” because no one considers me feminine unless I get cleaned up. It’s just clothes, makeup, and a wig, it’s not like she’s portraying an entirely different race, just another social group. No different than an actor momentarily playing a part. Films make fun of social groups all the time! And I bet behind the scenes they’re definitely poking fun at the basic character tropes they’re hired to play. No one forced you to sit and watch this if it offended you so much.

My daughter's first day of high school a preppie girl told her she looked like a total freak. Her response was thank you I have been working on this look and happy that I finally achieved it. So proud of her. I think your goth look is amazing and you are a lovely young woman both inside and out.
Because I work in the public schools and a church-related business, I have to look "normal" most of the time. When I want to look normal, I may wear light foundation, mascara only, and sheer lip gloss. I also wear my hair down and natural. Today, because it was Friday and close to Halloween, I teased my hair and wore it up and to the side, and people were like "OMG, what have you done to your hair?" It makes me sad that in a supposedly free country, you can't look too different without risking ridicule, ostracism, even loss of employment.

I think people are always shocked when they see something out of the ordinary, but I don't see a goth person and think negatively of them, I actually admire their individuality and courage and fearlessness when it comes to their look. I am sorry people shriek when they see you or make fun of you. That isn't right of them. People should be more open to unique looks and people.

I learned something new today: Everyone makes fun of basic white girls, but when goths do it apparently it's offensive. Edit: I don't find it offensive, I'm simply pointing out that nobody seems to care about all the songs, stand up shows and memes of the stereotypical white girl, but when she does it people seem to take offense, which doesn't make sense to me.
The Basic White Girl seems to me more like a meme, making fun of the stereotypes more so than actual people. And I actually believe, that sometimes it is actually really useful for personal or societal growth to disregard the mainstream (especially the mainstream that sells) :P

I love when people step out of their comfort zone for a day to see how it feels. My comfort zone is a tank, jeans and no shoes. One day, I decided to wear a dress. I didn't like how my friends reacted by saying "you're a girl?!", like they didn't know already. I'm not a dressy girly girl so to wear that felt very uneasy. It was like trading lives with someone else or having an out of body experience. Props to you for nailing that look and pulling it off like it's so natural.
yea i normally wear lots of "freak" (according to my mom and brother) clothing so sometimes to please them and not have them embarrassed by me when we go to public places i will try to wear the few "normal" clothes i have for that occasion, and it just feels so wrong but i mean its always good to have an open mind.

I feel you. I too love vintage rockabilly with Gothic touches and people feel they can openly comment. Their intentions seem to be to make me feel embarrassed so I will dress more "socially acceptable" with comments like "are you going to a party" or "have a date later on" or more recently in month of October "you're already dressing for Halloween?". Mind you it's a classic swing dress or black dress with white collar and heels with tights. It's like they want me to slum it. I don't feel myself in casual clothes and sometimes I feel like saying I don't want to be sloppy like them because most comments come from girls that dress so sloppy in my opinion but I don't and I never make comments on their attire but they feel I'm open game. I've also had people try to guilt me because I choose not to have kids so I get told "maybe if I didn't have kids I could spend all my money on clothes like you." or I'm selfish for not having kids. I think it is beautiful and bold that it's Black Friday dresses and lives how she feels and it an inspiration to just be true to yourself and live life. Life is to short to wear boring clothes and change your persona to fit to "social standards". A lion never loses sleep over the opinion of sheep.
