This was a proper final stand and sendoff for Batman than the Arkham Batman. Dying with the final moments of seeing his bat family before destroying the Batcave and fight Ra’s as the final thing he does. What we got for Kevin Conroy second best known Batman, dying on a bench by a more spiteful Harley with her giving a one liner. Man, this makes me wish Gotham Knight’s Batman was Kevin’s final time voicing a Batman…😫
@@djaafardjaafar7381 I will point out that him saying "Because I won't let you." was fine, but "Because I am vengeance! I am the night! I AM BATMAN!" would have made it better.
I’ll give them this, one of the best openings for a game I’ve seen in a minute, combat reminded me of Arkham origins when Batman fought death stroke in the cinematic
@@laupepajr4513 Thematically it minimises the ending of Arkham Knight, I liked the way they have left it there, Batman obiously faked his death because his real identity had been revealed and the final shot with that terrifying silouhette of batman on fire was an implication that someone even more terryfying than batman would pick his mantle. This is quite similar to the ending of TDKR. Now imagine 3-4 years after TDKR a stand alone movie about Robin releases, nobody wants to watch that. I see this game that way.
@@Xkezxy in a while****** Mgs4 is very very old sir. And mgsV is garbage in my opinion. Snake said about as many words as I said in these couple of comments. And its not David Hayter.
Imagine they marketed the game like mgs2 showing only a brief batman gameplay. Then you play for a while as Batman, this scene Plays and boom you gotta choose either of the 4
Well, considering that the fight was not in his favor and his escape options were destroyed I think he realized there was no way of winning so yeah that may seem like a Low IQ moment to you but he took a last stand to leave a point. Just my 2 cents
I think this batman would've too, but Ra's caught him off guard with a strike that severely weakened him. The poison arrow or maybe just a normal arrow in general that hit a vital spot. The fact that Ra's barely beat him even when catching him off guard is impressive enough. Plus y'all act as if Ra's is some mindless fodder goon, Ra's actually has skill and it doesn't seem too far fetched that Ra's actually beat him in this encounter.
@11:37 can’t believe nobody noticed how the shot from above top, everyone is placed in position perfectly to create the bay symbol. Adds a nice touch and shows that the developers of this game really did care about how they made the game even if it is a shit game I still respect their dedication to the lore
Major props to them actually killing Bruce. I wasn't convinced at all that he died at the beginning and knew he would be resurrected, but to actually have The Batman sacrifice himself at the very end was pretty big surprise for me. Batman can survive many things, but I don't think he survived that explosion. RIP Dark Knight.
He was too weak to leave the cave and they needed to destroy the Lazarus pit and even if he autopilot the plane the explosion would take him out too.And it would buy the character time to leave the cave as the enemies would be distracted by the multibillion dollar jet to their right. I don’t think he would blow himself up knowing he could still survive and destroy the lazarus pit,as for the first time he was basically half dead in that fight, only surviving long enough to activate his final contingency.
In Arkham Knight, Batman activated Knightfall protocol to fake his death to protect his family and people who are closed to him from his enemies. In Gotham Knight, Batman activated Knightfall protocol again to protect his family from Ra's potentially slaughtering them Shows how Knightfall protocol main purpose was "if else fail, I will still keep protecting you" as in Batman's last and final stand
Honestly they could've had a similar setup to this with Suicide Squad. Batman dies fighting a mind controlled Justice League, and the squad has to come in and finish the job.
Hearing Tim wheezing for air seeing Bruce after uncovering his body from that block hits so hard a man that was a unstoppable machine mentor father to them stretched out like that made the death so impactful
WBM: Batman is dead. Fans: Pssh, okay. [Batman is actually dead] Fans: You were telling the truth! WBM: Yes, I do that quite a lot and people are always surprised.
@@thelonecommentor4175 c'mon now do we all really think he is dead for real ? 🤣 It's a superhero game and we all know superheroes don't stay dead anyways 🤣
@@bowman303 You can actualy blame the director for everything. Iv'e read that he almost never came to test the game and scrapped many finished missions and all that. He left Rocksteady to open another studio. Well that is what i have read so i can be wrong.
Bruce did everything, Sacrificed so much for his Entire *Family* and Gotham, the League, everyone he cares about. If only his Parents saw him now, they’d be so proud of the man he’s become. Farewell Dark Knight. You surely will be missed.
Why does he have everything else armored but not his fucking chest, the most vulnerable area lol And why does he have literally 0 security in the batcave?
The chest plate is the strongest part of his armor mainly against bullets and blades. But Ra's probably knew that and maybe designed weapons to actually injure his chest area. Or the writing nerfed Bats so he could die
@@wyldchyld4438 yeah that had to nerf he if batmans tanking bullets in the arkham games he can definitely tank a stab but they wanted a game where batmans dead so
@@nikitahatamov4312ell to be fair, batman in arkham asylum and city wears a probably skin tight suit and he barely has anything to protect his body, yet I dont see much people complaining.
If this wasn’t a Batman game he would most likely called the justice league or at least superman, If he knew his life on risk that much I do believe he would ask for help
@@Johnny2gyro if he even exists in this universe. Frankly, whenever a franchise is Batman focused, I don't want the Justice League to exist in that continuity, because like you said, any of them could deal with his rogues pretty easily
@@hueyfreeman8064 what are you talking about Batman regularly has issues going 1v1 with Ra’s in the comics. Plus it’s obvious this Ra’s is magically enhanced as well. Not to mention at the very start of this cutscene Ra’s has already poisoned Batman as well.
The opening fight is actually pretty awesome. It's not a brawl or straight up martial arts fight. It's all tactical. Ra's strategically cuts off batman's utility belt and takes away his cape, his main tools offensively and defensively. Then he destroys the batcomputer, systematically taking down every tool batman has available to him. The level of detail is great!
Underestimating the pure level of skill that Batman has in Hand-to-Hand combat isn't a good idea. Sure, his utility belt and cape provide him with extra tools, but nothing beats a good, old-fashioned fist to the face. The only reason he couldn't win was because Ra's was immortal. Since Lazarus Pit and all that.
Batman knows Ra's plans on killing him and using the Lazarus Pit to resurrect and brainwash him. He knows that he has no chance of beating Ra's since his foe is using the Lazarus Pit's magic against him. Bruce would rather be buried and burned than be resurrected to be brainwashed into Ra's successor. The game even explains how the League of Shadows is planning to destroy Gotham and bring their war to the Court of Owls which would've transformed Gotham into a Year Zero warzone. With Ra's death, Batman delayed the League of Shadows' plans of mass genocide and give his four sidekicks time to discover the Court of Owls on their own. With Batman's death, the Court will be less silent than usual because of their fear of Batman so it will be easier to find the Court than before his death.
if you think about it, Batman rather destroy tge batcave and die in the hand of his enemy than ask Superman to help him. he could have just said "hey Clark Kent, can you fly here in lightspeed and help me." yet he just choose to die instead of getting help from Superman. Batman's ego can be bad sometimes.
Why would he call for superman? Like he can’t hear he’s name all the time and he’s probably busy with he’s own stuff. And there’s the bat-family plus he faced him before so he can do it again.
19:20 yep, I now see why this death changed everyone’s mind after SSKTJL, even your not fans of this gameplay or controls, at least this one was badass and heroic.
Arkham Knight did a much better ending to Bruce's demise. This one is straight up wacky, crashing the batwing, sacrificing and blowing yourself up with the lazarus pit. Not a very World's greatest detective thing to do.
I know people sh!t about this game but I think we can all agree that this is probably the best iteration of the Bat-family we have ever seen, because it feels like an actual family instead of a dysfunctional one like in the Arkham verse or the DCAU.
I don’t have no interest in buying the game but the cutscene goes hard as hell!!🔥🔥🔥 and that “ unlike you I’m not afraid of dying “ gives me goosebumps since that’s such a colddd Batman lineee
I wish we had a chance to be Batman for the first few minutes of the game, have a chance to speak to the Bat family and then fight Ra's al Ghul instead. Killing him immediately in the beginning and in the ending feels underwhelming. Why fly your Batjet in to the Lazarus Pit? I am curious did Batman at least escape before the jet crashed.
What I hated about this game is not that the bat family is bad but everyone can agree Gotham without batman can't exist bc it NEEDS him so none of us can picture a Gotham without him
so the joker cant kill batman but this does it. what a slap in the face of every villain that worked hard to be at batmans level only for him to go out like this. joker and bane deserved better
@@TheBatman39 OK the difference between the telltale games was he actually used voice-mod. To make his voice sound different this in this game just doesn’t make any sense on why they change the voice actor and why his voice sounds so weird.
It's not about Batman it's about the bat family that's it's called Gotham knights batman's name isn't in the title his death is supposed to be main plot of story but tbh it's not even part of the Arkham verse so take that as you may the suicide squad game is part of the Arkham verse this is its own universe
It would've been so awesome if we could have a DLC (not a mod) that would let us play as Batman in this game, with the events set before the events of it.
Seeing this is hilarious when you realize in the comics that not only has Batman beaten a group of archers with a barrage of arrows designed to penetrate his suit, his suit can also trap and neutralize poisons. Yet both of those things were 100% effective here.
This got me thinking, what if the League of Assassins was at war with The Court of Owls WAY before Batman even came into the picture? What if at one time they were the good guys?
I've not played this yet, but is the battle between Ras and batman revisited, or are we shown the build up to it? It all seemed a bit to easy for Ras, he basically just beat batman in a fist fight. Makes you wonder why he didn't do it years ago
