When it was released. Yes. But since then there have been a lot of community patches that fixed virtually every issue there was with the game. It's great.
The community patch doesn't fix the shitty gameplay though. This game is trash. The only good things about it is the soundtrack and the graphics at the time of release.

Kai, if you ever, ever read this, you are the fckn most UNDERRATED composer of our time, you should be praised next to great guys like Hans Zimmer... i adore, i LOVE your music, it brings me so many positive emotions i can't even handle them all and many, many of your musics brings tears to my eyes, this is one of them.
Ja tam nie mam nic do zarzucenia :) Nasłuchałem się o bugach i kosmicznych wymaganiach ale że grałem sporo po premierze bo wtedy kupiłem kompa to bugi były już połatane a na tanim ale dużo nowszym sprzęcie śmigało aż miło :) A nawet na tamte czasy grafika i fabuła były dalej świetne

Even 15 years later the games arent as open as this little gem😍 i mean no loadingscreen anywhere... Still playing gothic 1-3 every year while i couldnt even touch oblivion anymore...

My life would be complete if some devs' ll re-make graphic in Gothic 1 and Night of the Raven (i hope i wrote correct title ;) ). It' ll be pleasure to kill Undead Dragon in Gothic 4 style ^^
Paweł Terlecki My life wouldn't be complete this way. "Bad" graphics were part of Gothic. I can't imagine a Gothic 1 with Crysis graphics. Oh my god, it hurts.
Kaan Atbs My question is why no modder (or rather modding group) ever tried to just use the Gothic 3 engine to rebuild Gothic 1 and 2. would be extremely great and especially: it would work^^
you only need ssd, 4gb patch, 8 gb ram(good idea is ramdisk for swap) and decompress game files, beacause they compressed, then its good idea to overclock CPU to 4.5 ghz(i5) and you can play fine
JRPGS: The warm and comfy town with all of your friends chilling in the inn and buying the best weapons and items preparing for the final battle WRPGS: The town with the palace for worshiping a demonic entity and its followers are slavers
when i played gothic 3 to the end as rebell, i just started again as assassins to go in that town as friend :) its nice song, makes fun to jump from roof to roof while hearing that in ishtar
imagine: you knock at the gates of ishtar, they let you in, and this soundtrack kicks in.... you and your companions step into ishtar... all 3 of you covered in brown coats covering your heads with scarves... there go the slavers and theits slaves on display to the left, there go a few musicians playing on their drums to the right... and in fron of you the entrance to the palace of ishtar.... oh man im getting goosebumps i hope someday a movie will be made or sth....
