Someone mentioned the World of Darkness: Gypsy sourcebook... And I will say, YES it is EXTREMELY offensive. But I still keep it around because a lot of the supernatural abilities included within can be easily reworked to remove the stereotypical connections to the Romani people and just use said supernatural abilities as a hedge magic for hedge magicians in general. I also found some Storyteller's Vault supplements that work the offensiveness out of Kindred of the East, starting with not calling the Kuei-Jin as Kuei-jin (which is linguistically incorrect) but merely the Hungry Dead among other lore changes that remove/heavily change some of the other more problematic aspects of KotE.
28:40- It's always most fun when you allow all the games. If you ever have a group that needs a storyteller capable of running it, I'm happy to oblige. 29:17- That just means you got the most authentic neophyte vampire experience possible. How you felt is how they feel when thrown into the ring with mages warping reality, and werewolves capable of tearing them and 5 of their friends limb from limb even though the werewolf had its first change 5 minutes ago.
I do hope to see the Ogre team cover their favorite game lines.. Having each one how their own video could be very fun and keep distinct flavors of crazy.
3:54 Y'know I actually had a TV similar to that one. But before anybody also call's me boomer, I was born in 2005, we just liked to save money and we had an old set.
Old rules don't bother me. Dad and I played AD&D, which Dad had originally played in *college.* (Edit: The 2nd edition Old Man mentions. I rather like it, except THAC0. And initiative. We made up our own rules for the parts that didn't make sense.)
I plan to run an OWOD 2nd Edition campaign set in my hometown because of this video and the video game! Right now creating the Prince who is secretly Ventrue still somehow alive.
5th edition, especially Vampire has a reputation as a “sifter” that allows good players and ST’s to pass through, which unfortunately leaves behind the DREGS. Just, idiots of the lowest caliber are consistent V5 players and ST’s. Case in point, I have a friend who’d NEVER played WoD before, was asked to join a game, and unfortunately had an ST who was a “typical” V5 ST. My friend got into it, started doing all sorts of research. He came up with a Gangrel who was a Swedish WW2 soldier that became a POW, was embraced in one of the concentration camps, and then followed his remaining family to America when they immigrated, and made his living working for various mob bosses and crime lords, feeding on “bad people” who needed to be roughed up or disappear. Which is how he would wind up in modern day Philedelphia, where the setting of this ST’s game would take place. The ST had problems with my friends *BACK.* *STORY.* I’m emphasizing that for a reason, trust me… His first issue was a lame excuse which was a stupidly weird cover for his ACTUAL problems with my friend’s character. “Your guy is blonde-haired and blue-eye’d, so it doesn’t make sense that he’d have been sent to a concentration camp, the western allies were usually treated pretty well by the Nazi’s.” After pointing out how wrong and fucking dumb that was (in a MUCH more polite way than I’m summarizing it) the ST gave his real reasons. Which were even dumber. “I don’t want to bring concentration camps into my game, and I’m not comfortable role-playing as a Nazi.” Since my buddy COULD NOT get it through this Typical V5 ST’s head that HE has NO REASON to bring either of those things into HIS GAME, set in MODERN DAY PHILLY, since they were just BACK STORY for a Player Character, my friend walked away and didn’t bother joining the game. Fifth Edition World of Darkness Story tellers and players. Not even once.
37:22 That is a lie. I’ll argue to the death that most of WoDs video games, especially the newer ones, are either very mediocre or complete trash. Bloodlines is one of the few genuinely good ones. I am STILL resentful about how much Earthblood sucked.
Right? Everything about this was weird. The devs could've given us guns. Imagine you just rip out a mini gun and start blasting people. Or use talismans etc. Umbra travel was also severely disappointing and we only got a 3 forms out of 5.
I kinda don't like 5 edition due to all Muslim and LGBT agenda it tried to pull. Plus I still got the version where Ramsan Kadirov (the former leader of Chechnya) was written to be thin blood who could walk at night and feed on people in the open. And honestly I disagree about the fact that you feel weaker in previous editions. Because Camarilia in 5ed is basically bend over by the secret government's and inquisition.
