Great video once again. Just a few notes - might have forgotten some of it though. About the Sequel (careful with spoilers with upcoming mods and such, so play it first!): - The Sequel would have continued by making you talk to Milten at the fortress, making you convince the mages of you to get an audience with the king / help from them against the demonic threat. Through many trials and tribulations you'd have gained their trust and they'd have sent you out to organize a ritual they planned to do to banish the sleeper / demonic threat once and for all. They'd send you out to find Xardas last but when arriving there he'd have told you that they already started the ritual - you'd have witnessed as the mages did the ritual but got sucked into a portal, making them into seekers or - as they were called in the sequel - dementors. In the end you had the choice to banish the sleeper or bring him into the Morgrad. - Thora was also supposed to be in Gothic 2 ... or at least Uwe Meier drew her as a paladina but they never followed up on it, according to Mike, it was just Uwe's dream but it didn't fit into Gothic 2 supposedly (tbh I think the amazon culture could have still fit in if they made them originate from the southern isles) - The demon hunters were led by Lee, I believe and were basically partly remnants, partly newcomers at the New Camp. They'd have been in conflict with the king / hated the king. The demonhunter armor was even used in early promo images of Gothic 2. - Bjorn's map was probably fanmade but still, it's been confirmed by Mike after the Nemesis lead asked him that they planned for a south region (south of the colony) to exist but they cut that out, the dialogues are what remained of it
"You doomed Khorinis" - The awakened Sleeper would have doomed Khorinis, if the hero hadn't interfered. Björn holding up that map - It should be made clear, that Björn just held up the map of a fan who visited him. So many people wrongly believed it's something PB created.
Sure but Khorinis woul've been doomed either way. The Sleeper called out for the Dragons which the Hero defeated but still Khorinis got conquered in the end. It's a mess! Yeah I mean, I can see that people believed that but the truth is just a google search away. Besides, it isn't just a region south of the VoM but also this larger island south of that. The additional island to the south is too much but I take a larger shoreline that is on the southern end of Khorinis everyday to explore!
Brother of Innos. I bid you respect for this long ass video. I didn't expect all the entries to be so informative. Really hats of to you. Can't wait for the next one...oh wait.. 😂
Instant like! Regarding Velaya entry - the nameless hero can ask several NPCs about the "woman, who got here before him", including the very Raven, who replies (at least in Polish version) that "Gomez had her locked in his chamber, she belongs to him and you better stop thinking about her". Many mods that expand the base game often develop this thread further, and there is even a mod focusing on Velaya's fate after the barrier's fall, which I highly recommend
@@vertigo7082 nope. Its the Velaya mod and it happens after Nameless does his shenanigans in G2. It also takes place in Khorinis, so her freedom makes sense in that setting.
Im back and its getting even more interesting ✊ Excelent job. I hope we will see Archolos or G2 playthrough when the time comes.Youre content, Sequel and maybe History of Khorinis (its slim chance but still), Remake soon. So much to enjoy in future 🫶
Hey! Love these videos as always, keep em coming! Speaking of the Gothic sequel, you mention you haven't played it - Do try! Even if it's early buggy state, it's really fun. There's a couple extra animations in there like say, smithing and creating your own weapons that immerse the player in the world super well. It's only the first chapter that's available but I do recommend it even if you can play through it in a matter of hours.
@@vertigo7082 Check out the video "I played The Unreleased Gothic RPG | Long Lost Official Sequel to Gothic" by Click4Gameplay. He has download links in the description!
I was reading this thinking you meant the playable teaser, my face distorted in Horror. Then I remembered there was a planned sequel which was way cooler than gothic 2 and my heart started beating again.
@@4F6D Ohyeah.. we don't talk about the playable teaser haha! Never happened! Just like Gothic 4.. shame it doesn't exist.. I heard they released a semi-demo of what Gothic 3 "could have been" a couple years back, but nothing since ;)
@@SBBBurney Actually playing gothic 3 right now with the newest community patches, they really fixed the story with that and made it more like gothic 2
great video! ive really been enjoying the series. i think the anti-authoritarian themes rest on the make-up of the colony and khorinis more than on the developements during the game. both settings have a big emphasis on exploitation and the use of force to keep the working class poor and without agency. diggers, novices, and farmers are doing the heavy lifting of the portrayed societies and there is a lot of emphasis on how basic needs like food and shelter are provided and struggled over. this was always something that set gothic 1&2 apart from other RPGs to me
I always treated it as headcanon that Greg and his crew are the same pirates that steal your ship and equipment at the start of Gothic III. Regarding the similarities between Uranium and Magical Ore: One of the linex from Xardas in G1 is that Uriziel, once charged with the power from the ore, is able to pierce magical protections. It is, quite literally, an armor-piercing weapon. The Gothic Fan Comic "Ultimate Survivor" also picks up that theme and runs with it. If you haven't visited Mondgesaenge, you should check it out. Not only is it a gold mine of in-game knowledge, but also a hub of fanart and stuff.
I bet that not a lot of people know about this little detail but you are right. Some entries are really self-explaining, yet they are very deep into the iceberg.
19:00 dude its well known that piranha wanted to made G4 but lost rights after publisher abandoned them. and they were working few months on G4 already. so they changed few names in haste and made risen.
What about the cave wth dead NPCs in Gothic 2 (the cave behind the orc wall in the valley of mines)? Will that be in future episodes or have I missed it in previous episodes?
I believe that there are also a lot of infrcted, zombie-like people in fall of Setarrif (is that how you spell it? Eh, who cares?!). So that would be a other parallel to the Gothoc sequel.
