More then ever in this day and age we need people like you and your comments. We must remember we as a people not government need to stick to our closest allies. Thank you brother for your comment and your commitment to our countries. 🤜🤛 🇺🇸 🇨🇦
Im An American and long time hockey fan....I know every word to "O Canada" . I sing it along with the "Star Spangled Banner" before every NHL game. Great to see this kind of mutual respect........eh? ( Sorry, I had to do that....haha.)
I've been watching hockey night in Canada since I was three. my dad was a leafs fan. I knew the french version of the Canadian national anthem before the star spangled banner as a resuly lol
+AJ Alonzo your American and can speak French? I'm Canadian and I don't know it. But I do live in western Canada and there aren't much French people here.
pokefan100 We Canadians love our extended family in America and across the pond. Thank you poke fan for your very kind words. They are very heart warming. I am hoping someday to be living in your beautiful country 😊
+Wendy R Best of luck! I hope you are able to live here in the mother country soon and receive the warmest of welcomes. Canada is by far our most loyal friend to have gained independence from us and we're happy you're still one of our best friends. God bless Canada from the UK and God save our shared Queen!
seeing this as a Canadian makes me cry. It's amazing how much love that our two countries have for the other, the fun rivalries and banter when it comes to a lot of it. But these type of moments still amaze me the relations between Canadians and Americans.
For me as an Ontarian, I kinda feel like it's a vibe similar to what we have with the Newfies... We "all" make fun of them, but every Canadian knows that the Newfies are the friendliest and the American PEOPLE will always have our backs
We Canadians & Americans may talk 'smack'. We may post how great we are & that we are better than one another, but there is a reason why Canada & the US has the longest unguarded border in the world. No other 2 nations on this planet can claim this. As you read the numerous posts explaining how we tell each other why we are better than one another, at the end of the day, Canadians & Americans are truly great neighbours, are there for each other in ANY time of need, & we will always have each other's backs, (i.e. Iranian Hostages; Operation Yellow Ribbon on 911, etc) Love my neighbours to the south & glad they are our neighbours. I wonder if there will ever come a day when the US will have to build a wall or fence to keep us out?
+dieselboi91 You are so right. I remember standing in a group of people when a 'citizen' from another country started trashing Americans/the U.S. I went totally ballistic on him defending Americans. You should have seen the look on his face when he said, 'Oh you're American' & I said, 'No! I'm Canadian! And you sir, don't know Americans!" He of course followed up with the same ol'bullshit line we Canadians hear all the time…, 'Don't you Canadians know Americans hate you & will never respect you'? To which, I followed up with, 'Oh don't be silly! They respect us in hockey and to we Canadians, that's all that counts". I could have responded with a more intelligent remark, but there was no point. The man was an idiot! It was best to 'dummy-down' to a level he might understand.
+Bonnie Case thanks for having our backs. Yeah, I know how we talk shit back and forth, but it's all for the love. I love Canada like a big brother would like a little brother. We might mess with you but if anyone tries anything to hurt you, they better run and keep running because we will be there!!! God bless Canada and the USA.
Hey thank you all in Toronto for doing it for us. Agreed with cdrank, we may not always agree but respect is a given because we're all fans of our own team in the end. And good job to Toronto against Boston a few days ago, that was one of the best games I've seen in a while and it's good to see The Leafs back in the groove. Had it not been for Boston's horrible 1st period, that game would have been incredibly close.
pokefan100 yea we are basically children of Britain. America may of fought you for independence but Canada stayed loyal to Britain through WW1 and WW2 until Britain officially let us make our own true choices. We were before but now Britain gave us full freedom, but we still chose to see Britain as our mother. We even get taught in school about how our Canadian ancestors dropped everything to help Britain In the wars. Such a shame that us 3 countries are so alike but only the U.S and Canada are together :/ Allied forces for life :)
+Meme Team! We Brits adore our two best friends across the Atlantic, and we have been with each other through thick and thin. Canada is by far the most loyal country to have gained independence from Britain, and we are happy you are still in our Commonwealth and still stick by our side. We Brits would drop everything to help you guys or to help the Americans in a heartbeat too. While Britain may be the opposite side of a rather large pond to its American and Canadian cousins, we are thinking of you all the time, and as a proud Brit I keep a close eye on what's happening across the Atlantic in America and Canada. Since Britain is now leaving the EU, hopefully we can finally gain closer relationships with America and Canada, who are our true friends. God bless America and Canada from a proud Brit and God save the Queen of the UK and Canada!
Its standard when an American and Canadian Hockey team play each other, the visiting team's anthem is performed first then the home team's. God Bless the U.S.A. and Canada!
@@jaybee9716 God may not exist. But the principle of being kind and respectful to others does. You were absent that day in school. It's ok. I forgive you. We all make mistakes
That dude singing our national anthem did one of the best renditions of it I've heard in a long time.......hard to describe....but It had some "soul".......Thank-you!.....
Canada and America are like boy friend and girlfriend when it comes to hockey they fight sometimes but in the end they love each other and know a lot about each other too.
@@theevilascotcompany9255 Yes USA are underneath. But the girl is not always underneath... I think the USA is the boy, because they are stronger than us (yes i'm Canadian).
This is old, but I just saw this. No matter what, Canadians will always love our Brothers and Sisters to the south. And stick together through thick and thin. God Bless both America our countries.
Love canada, glad that america is neighbors, allies, and friends god bless the friendship we have and thank you Canada for finishing our anthem and hopefully we did you proud by completing yours
A grateful Canadian here knowing that the longest open border in the World that we share with our neighbours know our National Anthem as we know theirs. May God always bless and protect our wonderful Nations forever. With love and respect from St. Catharines, Ont. 🇨🇦🇺🇸♥️
From an American I would like to thank Canada for being kind enough to allow all flights into the United States to land at your airports during the attacks of September 11th, 2001.
Americans may seem like selfish loudmouths who don't care about anyone else, but I've come to realize that such an international reputation isn't fair or well-deserved. Most Americans are decent people, just as all other people. Besides, inspire class, progress, change, positivity, and better thought, behaviours and actions..., and you might find that even the worst, most selfish, and most ignorant of people can be brought to cooperate with you and befriend you. That's the Canadian attitude (at least that of the majority of our people). I'm glad to see that our southern neighbours are still on the same page as us.
I'm a Canadian living very close to the Windsor/Detroit border...and I know that in times of hardship or struggle, the United States of America have been the best friend and neighbor this Country could ever hope to have. Thank you!!
This reciprocated respect. Is a perfect example of our mutual partnership and love for each other. No greater relationship between 2 countries in the history of humanity. So much love and Respect from Toronto Canada!
Priceless and classy for sure. Another reason why America stands on guard for Canada in a good way. Thnaks for posting and sharing! Happy Sesquicentenary, Canada!
What's there to say, really? USA and Canada, have the strongest bond of any two countries in the world, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Well done in Toronto, and equally in Nashville. Be good to each other, USA.
God bless 🇨🇦 and 🇺🇸! I actually came across this when I looked up the maple leafs singing the national anthem, pretty much what this is in reference to. I think it is awesome for us to return the favor, thank you all!
I think I have listened to this 10 times and the tears stream my cheeks. As a proud American, I am as proud of O Canada as I am of the Star Spangled Banner. Many, many things unite us and we are all family. For all of all us on both sides of the border, BOTH anthems are OUR anthems. Long live the USA and Canada!
Had an uncle who was in the 1st wave at Omaha Beach on D-Day (he didn’t survive the day). A few beaches away the Canadians and Brits were going through the same horrors that day. Can’t think of better allies to go into battle with or to have our back! Thanks Canada!! Truly a classy people!
Back in Buffalo, my friends and I used to have pretend Stanley Cup Finals games when we were in high school. We always sang both the U.S. and Canadian national anthems before each game. All of us knew the words to both anthems and were proud to sing them both.
Much respects to Smashville, you're gaining fans left, right and center. Now cheering for Ottawa and Nashville to make it to the finals. Seeing stuff like this gives me chills, in a good way
I had the privilege of singing The Star-Spangled Banner at a talent show in Toronto years ago. Being a Canadian, I think it's important to know the U.S. anthem, and vice-versa, as a show of respect. Both countries have their issues, but overall, there are no better neighbours on the planet.
Absolutely. Knowing the lyrics to both the US and Canadian National Anthems as a sign of respect as well as a sign of unity, international cooperation and good sportsmanship.
I’m from a military family (husband, son, brother, dad, uncles, cousins...). We stand shoulder to shoulder on guard for thee, Canada. Best neighbors ever.
Just goes to show the comradery and respect that true hockey fans have. Just funny how people from a different have more respect for our country than a certain unmentioned group of American football players......
If you talking about the people kneeling in protest, that is what our military fights for: The right to protest. I come from a long line of military family, and they are all disgusted by the people who don’t understand those people kneeling at NFL games and mock them.
I love the working class and patriotic roots of hockey and the NHL. It just makes the games so much nicer and sporting to watch. God bless the stars and stripes and the maple leaf! With true patriot love, we stand on guard for both of thee! 🇺🇸 🇨🇦
The words to Oh Canada were probably on the Jumbo tron, The Canadians knew our national anthem by heart which impresses the hell out of me, half of the Americans don't know the words to our anthem, still a class act by Toronto and Nashville !
I have season tickets for Princeton Univ. Hockey. They sing both anthems before every game. One night the girls mic died and the crowd finished O’ Canada. Only 2500 people but my God it sounded like a full arena. the boys from Canada on Princeton and Cornell tapped their sticks on the ice to say thanks to the crowd. What a great moment!
+TJ Clark It's less offensive than a Maple Leafs Jersey!!! Q: What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common? A: They both look good until they hit the ice!
