Yes, they aren't easy to find. Last time I tried there were none to be found except one version done on a computer (and sounds pretty good too). I see this is fairly recent.
I wish he would sit down in a recording studio and put this on a CD. (Just checked his website to be sure he hadn't done this already.) An exciting performance with a lot going on in it. I can't be sure, but if anything, he has added a voice in parts of it.
Excellent transcription! I love how you added some of the orchestration to the solo. It lent a realistic quality to Gottschalk's work that is absent from many performers' interpretations.
I was thinking the same thing. At full tempo this piece was written for some advanced alien race as it requires truly super-human skill. Amazing performance.
I would say that this is some heroic feat alright, both as to your special arrangement and, of course, executionally. If Louis Moreau himself were here, there could be no doubt that he would stand as amazed and therefor offer his hearty congratulations to you. Most unfortunately he is not, and therefor mine will just have to do . . . Congratulations for your stupendous musical and digital accomplishment.
Thank you! Some years ago I gave monographic recitals on Gottschalk’s music. About this tarantelle, I started from Espadero piano solo transcription, but I added something I consider important from the original version. Very nice music I hope people will know better in the future!
