I love the painting! Resin is honestly the way to go for a beautiful, thick, clear finish, however I also like the Liquitex basics gloss varnish. It’s also a brush on one so it’s similar to the one you used in the video in that aspect.

I’ve seen people putting a top coat of resin with sparkles on their pieces...idk how well it would work with gauche tho

Resin is by the far the glossiest top coat! Only down side is it's expensive, a mess to deal with and can make a painting much heavier. But the effect it has is incredible.

I saw on your Instagram your panels and I’m so glad you were able to make a panel painting video! You said that you might make some non art related videos and I think people would really enjoy a grimoire making video since you said you just got one on you insta story!!

I've never thought to charcoal the backside of my work for transferring. I'll have to try that on my next project.

I think maybe a second layer of that resin would be more glossy, it seems that the wood caught most of the resin as you can see the wood grains fairly easily. A way to also solve this is put a thick primer on top of the panel before you start painting. Hopefully you can make it work next time!
