I am very pleased to have discovered your channel (after watching Steven Peach at Thompson's Ck Dam), I am new to fly fishing (just coming to the end of my 2nd season) and enjoy watching it on YT and especially your kind of low-key style videos. No stupid music, just you and your trips and the fishing. I also like the way you engage with other anglers. I currently live in Estonia. Returning to Sydney next June. I would love to also do a day or two with a guide in Australia to ease me in to Aussie conditions but I feel the prices are a bit much for me right now, especially with the costs of relocating myself, my wife and youngest son back in Australia. Anyway, I think you make some really nice videos and I will enjoy making my way through your back catalogue in my off season. Who knows I might also one day use the services of Scotty. Cheers!
I’m the owner of the silver BT50 Mazda Ute at the Rubicon and I’d already caught 4 or 5 in a couple of hours and moved on to another local small stream for a few more if I remember correctly. The Rubi is my home river and I know only too well that you have to be there early or you’ll fish behind someone and struggle which is what you did that day.
Great trip you’ve had, thanks for sharing. At 60 I’m trying to work out whether I want to start fly fishing or stick with bait/spinning. Being based near Wodonga I’ve got lots of choices in beautiful areas. Off to ponder some more.
Like many adventures in Australia, you have to be willing to drive to get the most out of your fishing - for me, the inevitably longer drive to colder, higher altitude, trout waters is always worth the extra hour or two (or three) - I love clear water - the ultimate in my book is when you can actually drink the water straight from the stream - I love the crispness of the air at altitude - I love the clarity of light at altitude - I would encourage you to take the time to explore the many Victorian High Country streams and the wonderful communities in these areas - book a local motel, go to the local pub for dinner, buy lunch at the local bakery, and support those businesses….
I'm hating being your corrector, but feel compelled . . . they're 'jacks' not 'cocks'. Big efforts here and nice fishing, Robert. Save that you are earning your daily bread whilst practically stream side, I reckon you are very close to achieving that status of the archetypal trout bum. Crikey, you're 900km from home!
