Those meals looked great! I'm never sure about basa, as most of the supply of it is very intensively farmed in Vietnam in pretty unsavoury conditions, so there have been potential longer term health risks associated with regular consumption of it. I do like the idea of having so many recipes to choose from. After your last vid on Hello Fresh I was nosing around their site, and accidentally signed up for the first box before I knew it. I wasn't actually expecting a box to come, but one just turned up yesterday!! Problem being I didn't choose any of the recipes, and already had the weekly shop in ha ha! So somehow got to shoehorn those meals into the week, at least it was with 60% discount 🙂

Were they anything like something you'd usually order? Also, oh dear, I didn't know about the basa problem. I'm always really careful to select supermarket fish that specifically says sustainably sourced and the best quality we can find because I hate to think of the fish being in poor conditions. I haven't looked into where hello fresh and gousto get their fish from though. I'd be interested to check

Those meals look so good! 😍 I love cooking but I have a chronic illness which makes things really difficult - these kinds of meal boxes make cooking and eating so much easier for me. Have been using hello fresh for a while and heard about gousto today, and it does look very yummy, might try it out - will have to make sure don't need a pestle and mortar or a food processor or anything haha already got a rolling pin and lemon zester and a garlic press due to hello fresh
Oooo, it was very yummy! And I did find it quite similar to Hello Fresh, with very subtle differences, so it sounds like you may enjoy it :) Awww no, well at least you have a rolling pin just in case anything requires one in the future now haha. And you sound very well equipt for Gousto with your garlic press and zester, they love a good fragrant dish.
Never used hello fresh or guesto but I thought this was a really good video giving the pros & cons. Most videos on you tube they get the delivery, cook the recipes * just rave about it, but there are cons which you pointed out. Personally, I don't think guesto or hello fresh would be for me. I love meal planning, searching for new recipes , food shopping ( am I sad!!) I also think leftovers are a good thing to whack in the freezer & reuse as they were or make something new up, buy I do appreciate some people maybe don't like leftovers or know how to make something else with them, maybe if they not very confident in the kitchen. Also when it just gives you the exact amount of something, say a teaspoon of mustard, I might want 2 in there if I want more flavour. I never go by a recipe I always tweek it but again good for people who maybe just want to follow a recipe exactly. But I totally agree with all your cons / pros. And I love cooking but some nights you just wabt to get something out of the freezer, quick/ easy / not much washing up. Really enjoyed your video
Thank you so much for your comment :) I also love meal planning and supermarket shopping, so I don't think it's sad at all! I too think cooking a larger amount and then having some leftovers is a great way to cook, as yes, I think it's so handy to some nights just bring something out of the fridge/freezer to make it a bit easier on yourself, especially if you've had a busy day. I did enjoy cooking from a recipe, but like you say, usually when I cook, I will chuck in a bit of extra spice, or herbs because sometimes you want a little bit more. Seemed to be a bit more upmarket than Hello Fresh. Shame the haddock was subbed for cod, which I don't think is as good quality a fish, but that's just my opinion!
I was really excited to try the haddock, and when we got an email saying it was substituted I was initially disappointed, but then after reading further, they said that they weren't happy with the quality of the haddock that they were provided, so I think it was a good thing in the end to get good quality cod over poor quality haddock. (I also prefer haddock to cod :) ) I hope they manage to get some good quality haddock in the future though, I could quite fancy a nice haddock dish :)
