I can't imagine a Governor telling her constituents that if you don't have the same political beliefs as I do then you should leave the state. Smacks of Communism, elitism and arrogance. Be careful what you wish for Governor. When people and businesses leave your state they also take their revenue with them. New Yorkers consider this good government?

Every former NYer who left NY to come here to Florida has been thrilled to live here for multiple reasons, including but not limited to , no state income taxes, lower costs of housing, less corrupt government, better government leadership and of course they flock here because the weather here is infinitely better. No snowplows in the streets, no horrible winter weather and the list goes on. People cannot wait to get out of New York.
There are good and bad things everywhere. I'm a former NYer too, went west. To be honest, I miss New York ... STATE. I'm from upstate, real upstate, not the next to the city upstate. If it kicked NYC out, it would be a red state. The city is a festering tumor on the state. It has some amazing nature too, yes, there is winter.... whatever, every place has unpleasant weather at times. But you are correct on the govt based down sides to NYS, it's managed terribly. Albany and Sacramento are in some kind of a competition. Florida is nice for a lot of reasons. Personally, too many bugs and giant reptiles, and terrible suburban design. But to each their own. But to be honest, I miss the place I grew up in. California and Oregon are certainly no improvement on NY. And snow is great for keeping the homeless population low. yes, policy has part to do with it, but the west coast's climate is a major attractor for the problem. They migrate up and down the coast. Upstate NY (central, finger lakes, western, southern teir, adarondack, 1000 island, mohawk valley, catskill). It amazing when talking about the nature aspects. I grew up in the forests of NY. There is a LOT more to "New York" Than the city. I'm tired of that place getting all the attention.

This exact line of commentary is coming out of many conservative talk shows throughout NYS. It's important to note that the same thing is coming out of New York's rival, California. BOTH are losing their $$$ and votes to places like Florida, where the weather and wealth management are far better. Hochul couldn't get re-elected in her own district in Buffalo because everybody thought she was a crook and now she's the governor, following or even trying to out do Uncle Andy's dictatorship.
The more conservatives they can force out the more solid the communists election chances are going to be. The problem is the conservative people they are forcing out is also their income base. I do not think they care. Most leftists are already filthy rich. They do not care if the state around them collapses as it will only make them even more wealthy.
Every state should have essentially an electoral college, in each county people vote for their candidate, whoever wins that county it counts as one (1) vote for who the governor is. In North Carolina, that would be 100 counties. It would take away the power of the cities (where the populations are) from controlling the state. The candidates would have to win the small counties as well. It would cause politics to moderate quickly.
I don’t think Hochul has to tell people to leave New York and go to Florida when people are leaving in droves. The people staying in New York will have to make up for the tax losses and reduced or no services. I guess Hochul will have to completely defund the police and other departments
She's so out if it she'll start taking credit for people leaving because told them to and her followers will applaud until their services stop because there isn't enough revenue to pay for them. Things like trash pick up every other week. Streets plowed only when there is more than three inches of snow. Only emergency routes will be plowed. Every other street light will be turned off. Parks will be closed because there won't be anyone to clean it up, or maintain the benches, lawn, etc. The people who vote for her will learn fast how much worse things can become.
We should check her tax records and see if she owns a house in Florida all these Democrats hate Florida but it's the best state in the country and they all like the vacation here maybe we should charge them a liberal tax

For a governor, she sure doesn't know anyone outside the city IS Republican. Probably has never been out of the city, unless it was to fly into Albany.
