That is rather his point, though. He was suggesting the provision is so broad that it doesn't even allow for a private response from any public servant in any capacity. Now I don't know if that is true, but if it is then I would reluctantly agree with the RINO in this case. Personally I think the government ought to contact them for the opposite reason: They should be forced to respect the First Amendment. Not the small privately owned businesses, but the social media behemoths that effectively control the public stage and have the power to effectively non-person somebody from the public conversation.

The bll intends to further constrain the natural bully nature of government as the entity that has the monopoly on coercion. It says nothing about constraining government's law enforcement power when illegal acts are involved. However, the burden of proof is still on the government to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the law has been broken by those committing the illegal acts.

I can't speak to how well Paul serves your state but he is 100% correct that the 1st Amendment was written to protect citizens from the government. Our Founders had just fought a war against a tyrannical oligarchy and wanted a system that protected its citizens. This was one of the precautions they inplaced for us. We cannot let them destroy it. The government IS the enemy.

Mitt might be one hell of a business man, but he is no legal scholar. He needs to understand that an administration official acting in an official capacity cannot call a media company and say "don't write that." That is clearly a violation of the writer's First Amendment rights. Even in a personal capacity government workers have to be careful about their speech. The Hatch Act clearly limits administration officials from engaging in political speech. Perhaps the senator from Utah ought to attend a constitutional law class regarding the first amendment before he opines

@@bocajrs7628 as a proud Protestant from the hills of the Appalachian Mts I am quite familiar with group/tribal loyalty and identity, and I recognize that it’s a societal trait common to, but not limited to those of a common religion. So, I feel comfortable in my feeling that a common identity is a factor in the Senator’s popularity here in UT. But, don’t forget the voters of Massachusetts elected him governor, and he was also the republican party’s nominee for president in 2012. I suspect his talent as a savvy politician, combined with significant personal wealth, and connections to powerful (wealthy) supporters/donors and the political elite (arguably from the DC uni-party) are larger factors in his political success.

I appreciate facts and truth. How different we would be if we were taught such truths at a young age, rather than a lot of unimportant and irrelevant information.
