As a born and raised Louisiana person, I will never move back home as politicians continue to sell crap bills as hope. Just sad

The only way P&C rates in areas with Hurricanes stay affordable is thought state or federal subsidy which would transmit some of the expense into the tax base of the state. Call to "socialism" or anything else, but companies will not sell in a state where they cannot at least break even and homeowners cannot afford the catastrophic losses. The change will eventually come or everyone will end up on a state plan which will run a deficit every year and be a political tennis ball.
